Car hire at Malaga Airport

Local firms at Malaga Airport ask for no credit card on these cars, and some hold no deposit at all. Cover and kilometre caps show on every car.

Malaga Airport rental deals

The cheapest seven-day totals at AGP, all with CDW, no excess, a €350 deposit and 1,225 km for the week.

Which class suits your holiday?

Class figures are typical day rates from the deals’ week. Premium cars and convertibles cost several times what an economy car does at AGP.

Filter early if you need an automatic or seven seats; both are on offer. As with all of Spain, the cars come from local firms.

Where do you meet the rental firm at Malaga Airport?

The voucher carries the meeting point and the firm’s phone number; have it open when you land.

Meeting point

Ignore the desk queues in arrivals and follow the voucher; ring the firm if you need directions.

Late flights

Night handovers cut the choice and some cost more, so search with the time you really land.

Handover charge

Some AGP cars include an airport handover fee. It is part of the total, so compare totals.

Driving into Malaga? The centre has a low-emission zone checked by number-plate cameras, so ask the company whether your car may enter.

Road signs, tolls and safety

Traffic direction

Traffic drives on the right. Watch the signs for priority at junctions until you know the roads.

Leaving roundabouts

Use the outer right-hand lane to leave a roundabout unless signs say otherwise; go around again if you cannot reach it safely.

Breakdown equipment

Check the car has a reflective vest and, if it is Spanish-registered, a connected V-16 light. Ask the company what to do after a breakdown.

Incident reporting

After damage or an accident, tell the company at once and get a police report, unless the company agrees otherwise.

Tolls on your route

The AP-7 west of Malaga and the AP-46 are toll motorways. Check whether your route uses them before you set off.

Driving abroad

Some Costa del Sol cars offer a Portugal travel extra. Ask for approval and the required documents before booking a trip across the border.

Can you return your Malaga Airport car elsewhere?

Some Malaga Airport cars can be returned at Seville Airport, in Madrid or at Alicante Airport, with the one-way charge already in the price you see.

Choose both places

Pick the return place in the search. Only book a pickup and return pair that comes up there.

Check the total

Compare the full price with your new return selected. Check any location charge before paying for the booking.

Confirm the return

Confirm where and when to return the car. Leave time for the company’s inspection before you head to departures.

The one-way charge to Seville Airport or Alicante Airport differs from car to car, so compare totals rather than day rates.

Malaga Airport prices by month

Use the monthly comparison to narrow down your dates. Check the current total once you know which week you will spend on the Costa del Sol.

Bringing the whole family

Extra drivers

Add a second driver if you plan to share the journey. Check their age and licence experience before confirming the car.

Child seats

Reserve a suitable child seat with the car. Ask the company to confirm it before you travel.

Bags and seats

Check that your cases and any pushchair fit in the boot while all the passenger seats you need remain usable.

Travelling pets

If you are bringing a small pet, keep it in its carrier throughout the journey. Larger pets are not permitted.

The deals. SEAT Ibiza, Volkswagen Polo, Golf and T-Cross, Fiat 500 and Toyota Aygo: CDW, no excess, €350 held.

Outside cover. Wheels, undercarriage, glass and interior are excluded from standard insurance.

Void. Neglect or deliberate damage removes the cover, whatever level you paid for.

Up to €1,700. That is the largest deposit here; it secures the excess if damage happens.

What the driver needs at pickup

Carry your original licence, with Latin-script details and valid past the return date. Copies are refused.

International permit

Licences valid only in their country of issue need an International Driving Permit alongside.

Age and experience

Minimums for age and licence years differ from car to car; set the driver filters first.

Fuel and cleaning before you fly home

Bring the gauge back to where it started.

Fuel

  • Missing fuel is billed at the firm’s rates, and a fuller tank earns nothing.

Cleaning

  • Dirt that blocks the inspection means a wash at your cost.

Cancelling a Malaga Airport booking

Cars with the 24-hour cancellation option, and many here have it, can be cancelled until the day before pickup.

Otherwise

Allow 7 days, or 30 for luxury cars and convertibles. A late cancellation or a no-show costs the advance.

Refund

Email the voucher to support and the advance comes back within 14 days, minus the 6% fee. New dates, new booking.
