Car hire at Alicante Airport

Local companies at Alicante Airport ask for no credit card on the cars listed here. Deposits start at nothing, and every car shows its cover and kilometre allowance up front.

Cheap car rental at Alicante Airport

Week-long totals for the cheapest cars collected and returned at ALC. Deposits on these six run from €150 to €1,100, which matters as much as the price.

What size suits your luggage?

Day rates per class come from the same seven-day search as the deals above.

Families can filter for seven-seaters, and automatics are common at ALC. As on every Spain page here, the cars belong to local firms that set their own rules.

Where do you meet the rental company at Alicante Airport?

Your booking voucher gives the meeting spot and a phone number for the firm.

Meeting point

There is no rental desk to queue at: head for the spot your voucher describes, and ring the firm if you cannot find it.

Late flights

Landing late? Fewer cars are offered for night pickups and a few charge extra, so put your actual arrival time into the search.

Handover charge

A small number of Alicante cars carry a charge for the airport handover. You see it inside the total before you pay.

The search for car hire in Alicante shows these airport cars plus delivery to an address in town, and the city is about 20 minutes away. Benidorm is about 50 minutes up the coast.

Alicante Airport guide: services and parking

Practical information for an arrival or departure through Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport.

Collecting and returning your car

  1. Meeting point Your voucher gives the meeting point and the company’s phone number; save both before you fly.
  2. Late flight If your flight is delayed, call the company on the voucher number so it can wait.
  3. Check the car Walk round the car with the company and note any damage on the paperwork.
Stay reachable Check the phone number on the reservation, including its country code, and keep it working from the day before collection until the hire ends.

Driving away from the airport

  1. Speed limits 120 km/h on motorways, 90 on other roads outside towns, and 30 or 50 in town.
  2. Reserved lanes Lanes marked for buses, taxis or bicycles are closed to hire cars.
  3. Roadside checks Police often stop drivers to test for alcohol and drugs.
On-the-spot fines Police can fine you at the roadside, for speeding among other things; paying within 20 days halves the amount.

  • Airport Wi-Fi Confirm your email within 15 minutes; after that there is no time limit.

Do you need a credit card to hire a car at Alicante Airport?

No, not on any car listed here. The deposit may still go on a debit card, so read the payment methods before you book.

Without a credit card, expect a debit card rather than cash for some deposits; the car page spells it out, as it does for all cars in Spain that need no credit card.

A few ALC cars are car rental in Spain with no deposit. Elsewhere the hold ranges from €100 to €1,700, depending on the car.

Road essentials before you set off

Lanes and direction

Spain drives on the right. Bus, taxi and cycle lanes are for those vehicles only, so keep the hire car out of them.

Leaving roundabouts

Leave a roundabout from the outer lane unless a sign or arrow allows another. Missed the exit? Go round again.

Breakdown equipment

Spanish law requires a connected V-16 light and a reflective vest in the car. Check both are there at pickup.

After an accident

Tell the company straight away and get a police report, unless it agrees otherwise. Skipping either can cancel the cover.

Leaving Alicante Airport for your accommodation

Fuel, parking and any motorway tolls on the way are yours to pay, so keep a little budget aside for them.

From the airport: Alicante, about 20 min; Elche, about 25 min; Benidorm, about 50 min; Altea, about 55 min; Murcia, about 1 h 15 min.

These times assume clear roads and no stops; the city figure ends at Plaza de los Luceros.

Stick to paved public roads

Stay on paved public roads throughout the hire, including the approach to a beach or rural accommodation.

Driving abroad

Planning to leave Spain? Tell the company in advance so it can prepare the documents for the trip.

Can you return your Alicante Airport car elsewhere?

Want to finish at another airport? Enter that return point when searching and check which cars are available.

Choose both places

Search with the airport as pickup and your return place as drop-off. Book only a pairing the search offers.

Check the total

Select your return point first, then compare the total. Check for any pickup or return charge before paying.

Confirm the return

Ask where to bring the car back and how the inspection works. Leave enough time to unload before your flight.

Flying home from Valencia Airport? Select it as your return point to check availability and the full price.

Alicante Airport prices by month

Each bar is the typical day rate for a week’s hire from the 15th of that month, with pickup and return at the airport.

Travelling with family or friends

Extra drivers

If you want to share the driving, add the other driver to the booking and check their age and licence experience.

Child seats

Reserve the child seats you need and ask the company to confirm them before you fly.

Bags and seats

Allow room for every passenger, suitcase and pushchair. Check the boot with all the seats you need in place.

Travelling pets

You can bring a small pet, but it must stay in its travel carrier while in the car.

Which cover comes with the cheapest Alicante cars?

It changes from one car to the next, even within the six deals above.

Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Damage to your hire car (not included)
Basic coverage
  • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
Full Coverage
  • Limited driver liability (Super CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
Full Coverage Plus
  • Full damage cover (included)
  • No driver liability for accident damage (included)

Full cover at no extra cost. The Fiat Panda and Ford Ka in the deals already include SuperCDW, with no excess and a deposit of €150 or €250.

CDW and a €1,100 excess. On the Citroen C3 and Ford Focus the excess equals the deposit, so one dent could cost up to that sum.

Basic cover without an excess. The Fiat 500 and Toyota Aygo list CDW with nothing to pay towards damage and €350 held.

Never covered. Wheels, the underside, glass and the interior sit outside standard insurance, and neglect or deliberate damage voids any level.

Licence and age rules at Alicante Airport

A physical national licence, with its details also in Latin script, that is still valid on your return day.

Home-only licences

Licences valid only at home: pack an International Driving Permit to show if the firm asks.

Age and experience

Minimum age and licence years vary by car, so set the driver filters before you choose.

Fuel and cleaning at the Alicante return

Return the car with the same fuel level you collected it with.

Topping up

  • Under the mark is billed at the firm’s fuel price; over it is not paid back.

Sand and dust

  • If dirt stops the inspection, the car is cleaned and you are charged.

Can you cancel an Alicante Airport booking?

Yes. Many cars carry a 24-hour cancellation option; without it the deadline comes earlier.

Seven or thirty days

Standard cars can be cancelled up to a week ahead, luxury cars and convertibles up to 30 days. A no-show forfeits the advance.

Getting the advance back

Write to support with your voucher. Refunds land within 14 days minus the 6% payment fee, and a date change is a fresh booking.

Alicante Airport car hire questions

Do I need a credit card to rent a car at Alicante Airport?

No, none of the cars listed here needs one. Some take the deposit by debit card instead, which the car page states.

Can I hire a car at Alicante Airport with no deposit?

Yes, a few cars hold nothing. The rest hold between €100 and €1,700 depending on the model and the cover you pick.

Is there a daily kilometre limit?

Some cars cap the daily distance and others do not; the cap and the charge per extra kilometre appear with each car.

Can I collect the car after a late flight?

Yes, on some cars. Search with the real landing time: night handovers remove part of the choice and can add a fee.

Where do I return the car at Alicante Airport?

Where your voucher says. The car park names do not show where a hire ends, so ask the company before your last day and leave time for the return check.
