Car hire in Spain with no deposit

Keep your money free for the trip: local companies at the main Spanish airports, or delivery to where you stay, with cover priced on each car.

No-deposit car hire deals

Spanish pickup destinations

Mainland and island pickups differ. Fuengirola, Marbella and Torremolinos also have zero-deposit delivery, beyond Malaga.

Costs that remain in the booking

Reservation payment

You still pay 15 to 20% of the cost online to book. The deposit filter does not remove it or make it refundable.

Collection balance

On pickup day, pay the rest of the hire charge to the company. Check the accepted methods in the booking before you travel.

Handover charges

An airport handover charge can be part of the quote even with no deposit. It is in the total but not in the advance.

Late arrivals

Overnight pickup or return is not possible on some cars; others add a time charge. Give both handover hours to see which suit you.

What the security figure means

Nothing reserved

Zero deposit means the company holds no deposit for your hire, so that money stays yours for the whole trip.

Final conditions

The first deposit shown belongs to the starting cover. Check the final quote after changing cover or extras so it matches what you meant.

Car hire insurance in Spain

Decide what share of damage you will carry. A no-deposit car can still leave an accident share to pay.

Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Damage to your hire car (not included)
Basic coverage
  • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
Full Coverage
  • Limited driver liability (Super CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
Full Coverage Plus
  • Full damage cover (included)
  • No driver liability for accident damage (included)
  • With Basic, CDW limits covered collision costs. Standard cover leaves out underside, interior, windscreen and wheels; check those parts before upgrading.
  • Super CDW comes with Full Coverage and may trim several hundred euros off the excess, or nothing. Some zero-deposit Palma cars still leave a driver share.
  • Full Coverage Plus means no driver share for accident damage, priced per car, on some Malaga, Mallorca and Gran Canaria cars; Tenerife lacks it.
  • Intentional vandalism or neglect makes the insurance void. Rental routes must be public and paved; extra cover does not allow anything else.
Incident paperwork

Contact the company the moment an insured incident happens, plus the police for a report unless they say otherwise. Skip one and the damage cost moves to you.

Where security is still requested

Location exceptions

Tenerife South address deliveries and Santa Cruz pickups hold a deposit. Elsewhere, deposit cars sit beside no-deposit ones, so pick carefully.

Reduced deposits

Low deposit also covers amounts above zero. For a car that holds money, check the amount, method and repayment time in its voucher.

Applying the right search choices

  1. Set your journey

Give pickup and return places with your handover times. Each car sets age and licence rules, so fill those in.

  2. Choose zero security

Use No deposit to narrow results. Open a car and compare the full quote with any options added.

  3. Keep supplier details

Read the rental conditions, then reserve. Your confirmation names the rental company, with contacts for car or service questions.

Credit eligibility is a separate decision

No deposit

Some Tenerife airport and Palma delivery cars hold no deposit but need credit. The main driver must then show their embossed credit card in person.

No credit card

Cars without credit may still hold a deposit, and take cash or debit only if stated. Choose it when the card is the issue.

Practical questions for your journey

Can I rent an automatic in Spain with no deposit?

Yes, in Malaga, Palma, Gran Canaria and at both Tenerife airports. Pick the gearbox within the results; the deposit filter does not set it.

Will I get the exact car in the photo in the Canary Islands?

No. Canary rentals come as the pictured car or a similar one; the photo shows the class. Palma and Malaga also list guaranteed-model options.

Can I collect a no-deposit car at Palma Airport?

Yes. Some cars for car hire at Palma Airport hold no deposit, and so do some Palma offices and deliveries. Some delivered Palma cars still need a credit card, so check both rules on the car.

What can I still pay for at return on a no-deposit car?

Fuel, tolls, parking and penalties are yours. Restore the pickup fuel reading; missing fuel costs the company’s tariff, surplus gets nothing. Dirt that blocks the inspection means a washing charge.

Are there no-deposit cars in Alicante?

A few. Some airport cars for car hire in Alicante need no deposit, though most cars there still hold one. Use the No deposit filter with your own dates.
