Grand Baie rentals arrive at the address you give. Add your hotel or villa details when booking and confirm the meeting with the company.
Give the full address and a working phone number, and say which entrance or reception to meet at.
Some cars include delivery; others add a charge. An airport price does not show what delivery costs.
Keep the booking phone, with international code, working from the eve of pickup. Tell the company about any address change.
Arriving before your delivery? Arrange a transfer from Mauritius Airport (MRU) yourself. Let the company know about any new flight times or address, and note that airport pickup is booked separately.
Some delivered cars need no credit card and no deposit. The deposit amount, payment method and balance are separate things to check before pickup.
Some delivered cars start with no deposit, while some seven-seaters hold one. A lower deposit does not mean less to pay after an accident, so check the cover too.
The rent and the deposit can have different payment methods. Paying the balance in cash does not mean cash covers everything at pickup, so check your own car’s rules.
Online you pay a 15 to 20% advance, the balance at handover. If a card is needed, it must be a physical, embossed card naming the main driver; debit only if approved. Ask when a deposit is returned.
Compare the airport drive with trips from your hotel in the north. These clear-road times leave out handover, stops and traffic.

From the airport you head north on the M1, then the M3 and M2. Before setting off, allow for the meeting, the car check and loading up, and for an airport return, time for the check and the walk in.
Trou aux Biches is about fifty-five minutes from the airport, leaving the M3 for the B41 and B35. Give your actual address, as the nearby beach areas are not one meeting place.
Grand Baie to the airport is about seventy-two kilometres and about an hour on clear roads. Do not guess a shorter time from the distance; traffic and the return point can add more. Belle Mare on the east coast is about 40 minutes from Grand Baie.
Pick the day’s stop before you plan the drive back. Trips south to the capital and the west coast differ from the east coast run.
If roads are slow, the rental does not stretch on its own. Contact the company if you might miss the handback.
Stick to paved public roads, whatever the sat nav or car size. Check signs and official warnings before an unfamiliar route, especially after bad weather.
Keep left, and at roundabouts let traffic from your right go first. Watch the signs on local roads near your hotel, not just the motorway.
M roads: 110 km/h. A roads: 80 km/h. B roads: 60 km/h. Other streets are lower, and posted signs come first.
Grand Bay Police Station has tourist police. Keep the company’s number handy and watch weather warnings; a flood, or a cyclone at category three or above, means no driving.
Using the phone while driving is not allowed, hands-free included. Make calls before you set off and stop safely to change the route.
Check the entrance and parking at your property before delivery. A delivered car comes with no parking space and no paid parking.
Walkers and cyclists use motorways too, in daylight and in the dark, and some slow motorbikes ride without headlights. Keep this in mind on a drive back to Grand Baie after dark.
Parking charges and traffic fines are yours. Ask your hotel about parking and any access limits before the car arrives.
Collect at the airport and finish in Grand Baie or at another agreed Mauritius address. The return place changes the price, so enter it first.

A one-way rental and a delivered round trip are priced differently. Delivery and collection in Grand Baie can cost something different from an airport pickup ending in town, so check the total for your booking.
If you finish at your hotel, agree the address and time with the company. You cannot leave the car wherever you visit, so tell them about any change of hotel.
For a town start and airport finish, enter the airport as the return. Leave time for fuel and the car check. Either way, the car never leaves Mauritius.
Each month shows a week’s rental from the 15th. Treat the typical daily price as a guide, then price your address, times and cover.
Months without a quote show N/A; your dates decide what is available.
A week’s price does not tell you the cost of a longer stay or different times. Delivery, extras and cover can change the total, even within one car size.
Think about which days you need the car. Later delivery can mean the rental starts only when you need it, while airport pickup covers the trip north. Compare exact handover times.
Seven-seat and five-seat cars are on offer. Choose seats and child equipment together, and add any extra driver when you book.
Some delivered cars offer infant and child seats, and some a booster. Choose them when booking and check the fit when the car arrives.
Some cars let you add a second driver. Arrange it before anyone else drives; a licence alone does not give permission.
In a seven-seater, check boot space with all seats in use, so everyone and their bags fit for the airport run.
See whether the offer promises that exact model or one “or similar”. Tell the company about any seats or extras you cannot do without.
Check your car’s cover before the hotel handover. No deposit and no excess are different things, and cover levels vary between cars.
No deposit is not no excess. Some cars keep a zero deposit on Minimum and Basic cover, but Basic still has an accident excess you may pay.
Two separate amounts. On some seven-seaters, Full Coverage cuts the deposit below Minimum or Basic yet keeps the same excess. A smaller deposit is not always less to pay.
Inspect the actual menu. Not every car offers every level. Standard cover excludes the interior, windscreen, underside and wheels; check what an upgrade adds.
Respect weather bans. No upgrade lifts the driving ban in floods or cyclones at category three plus; damage then is uninsured. Vandalism and neglect void cover too.
Some cars offer fewer cover levels than others. Check your car’s cover options and excess.
Show your original home licence, in Latin characters and valid until your last day. Copied or digital licences will not be accepted.
Bring the original licence. For a home-only licence, bring an IDP too (strongly advised) and show it when asked.
Check the car’s minimum age and driving experience before you book. Keep the voucher for payment and meeting details.
Ask the company before pickup if a Mauritius document rule is unclear.
Match the starting fuel level when your Grand Baie rental ends. Any gap is charged at whatever the company sets; extra fuel brings no refund.
You may not take the car outside Mauritius. A trip to another island on your holiday does not change that.
Hand the car back on Mauritian soil before travelling further. A one-way rental here does not allow returns abroad or by ferry, and Mauritius road and weather rules still apply.
Ordinary cars need a week’s notice to cancel and convertibles or luxury models thirty days, or twenty-four hours before pickup with the short-notice option.
Send support your voucher with the request. Eligible refunds reach you within fourteen days, minus 6% for processing.
A late cancellation, or a no-show without warning, loses the advance. To change dates or car, cancel and rebook; ask before the return time to extend.
The minimum charge is one twenty-four-hour period, even for a short trip, and each extra day started is charged in full. Enter exact times; there is no hourly price.
Yes. Read the model terms first. If your car breaks down or cannot be supplied due to force majeure, the company must give you one of the same class or higher, on the same price and terms.
Yes, in a carrier. Small pets must stay in it on every drive; loose animals are not allowed.
No. The deposit secures the rental, not parking. Pay parking as signs and your hotel say; with no deposit, parking costs and fines are still yours.
Contact the rental company named in your confirmation about the car, its condition and handover. Save its number before pickup. Cancellations and refunds go through booking support.
Compare cars delivered to your hotel, check the deposit and cover, then book the times that suit your stay.
