Airport round tripPrices are for cars collected and returned at the international airport at Plaine Magnien, ready for a drive round Mauritius.
Some cars are the exact model shown and others a similar one, so check the listing.
Cars booked here come from local Mauritian firms. The voucher carries the meeting point and the firm’s phone number.
Some companies here meet you in person, and others arrange it differently. Read your voucher before you fly so you know what to expect.
Use a mobile number with its country code that works in Mauritius. Message the company if your flight is late or diverted.
Go round the car with the company, record any marks and the fuel, and check child seats or other extras you booked.
What the terminal at Plaine Magnien offers, how its car park works, and the road rules that matter as you set off.
One landside car park with a single tariff. Drop-offs of under 15 minutes are free.
Cameras read your number plate and record your entry time; take a ticket at the entrance lane.
Yes, none of the six cars shown holds a deposit, and none asks for a credit card. Other cars here do take a deposit, so check each car.
Even car rental in Mauritius with no deposit leaves an excess for damage, so check both figures on each car.
If you would rather not use a credit card, compare cars in Mauritius that need no credit card. Any card you do use must be the main driver’s own physical card.
Grand Baie is about an hour north of the airport on clear roads. Times start at the terminal and leave out stops.

Mahébourg is the closest town, 8.9 km and about 15 minutes away. Port Louis is reached on the M1 motorway; Grand Baie is further north on the M3 and M2.
Flic en Flac and Le Morne are on the west coast and Chamarel in the hills above it; allow extra time for the handover before you set off.
Mauritius drives on the left. Take a few minutes to learn the controls before you leave the car park.
Cars may do 110 km/h on motorways, 80 on A roads and 60 on B roads, less in towns. A posted sign always takes priority.
Using a phone while driving is banned, even hands-free. Pull over safely before you call or message.
Pedestrians and cyclists use main roads, motorways included. Motorbikes can be slow and unlit at night.
Police 999 or 112, ambulance 114 and fire 115. Tell the rental company about any damage straight away.
Do not drive in floods or a cyclone of category three or above. Damage in those conditions is not insured, even with extra cover.
The rental allows paved public roads only, wherever you stay on the island.
Beach tracks, cane-field roads and private land are not covered, whatever car or cover you choose.
Yes, many cars can be picked up at the airport and returned to an address in a town such as Grand Baie or Flic en Flac.
Choose the airport for pickup and your town for the return.
Agree the exact return address and time with the company.
Some cars add a delivery charge for the return, others do not.
The charge, if any, is already in the total shown. Returning at the airport after a town delivery is a separate search.
A rental car may not leave the country, so end the hire before you travel overseas.
A town return changes only where the car goes back on the island.
Each bar is a one-week hire collected and returned at the airport, starting on the 15th of the month.
N/A marks a month with no price offered yet.
The official cyclone season runs from November to mid-May. Watch official warnings, and call the company if the weather changes your flight.
Pick a car that fits your group and luggage, then add child seats and drivers to the booking.
Some cars at the airport seat seven. Check the boot with all seats in use before you book one.
Add a baby seat, child seat or booster as an extra, then check the fitting at pickup.
Add any second driver to the booking first. They must meet the car’s age and licence rules.
Some listings promise the model shown; others may give a similar car. Check before you pay.
A small pet may come if it travels in a carrier for the whole trip.
Many cars here start with Minimum cover only. Upgrades work differently on each car, so check the excess at every level.
Minimum to begin. Every car shown starts with third-party cover, which does not pay for damage to the hire car.
Basic and Full keep the excess. On these cars, paying for either level leaves your excess unchanged.
Full Plus on some cars. A top level removes the excess entirely, at an extra cost.
What stays outside cover. Standard cover leaves out wheels, underside, windscreen and interior, even on a car with no deposit.
Compare the cover levels on your car by the excess each one leaves, not by its name. Call the company at once after an accident; you also need a police report, unless the company tells you otherwise.
Your home licence must be the original, printed in Latin letters and valid for the whole hire. Photocopies and phone versions are not accepted.
A licence that only counts at home should travel with an International Driving Permit. It is strongly advised, not optional extra paper.
Drivers must be old enough, and have held a licence long enough, for the chosen car. The limits differ from car to car.
Allow time for the inspection before you check in on Level 1.
Parking, fuel and traffic fines during the rental are yours to pay, even with no deposit.
Check which cancellation deadline your booking has before changing flights.
A standard car needs seven days’ warning, a luxury car or convertible thirty, and a booking with short notice included just one day. Late cancellations and no-shows forfeit the advance.
Ask support to cancel by sending the voucher. Any refund lands within a fortnight, after a 6% fee on the advance.
New dates or another car mean cancelling and booking again. Extend only with the company’s agreement before the return time.
All six cars shown are automatic. Manual cars are rare here, so check the gearbox on the car you pick.
Yes, the cars shown could be collected at 03:00, but some add a time charge then. Enter your real landing time.
The airport shuts soon after a Class III warning, so flights and handovers can be called off. Call the company to agree new times.
Small automatic cars are the cheapest. Compare the full weekly total, and check the excess as well as the deposit.
Yes, many companies deliver to addresses in towns across the island. Search your town to compare delivered cars.
Type in your landing and flight-home times, choose seats for the whole party and line up the deposits and cover.
