Car hire in Belle Mare

Have a car delivered to your Belle Mare hotel or villa, or collect it at Mauritius Airport (MRU). Pick no-deposit cars that need no credit card, with cover shown upfront.

Belle Mare car rental deals

These cars come to your Belle Mare address with no delivery charge. Check each car’s conditions, then enter your own dates for a price.

Small automatics and larger passenger layouts

Can the vehicle come to your accommodation?

In Belle Mare, the company brings the car to an address you choose. Confirm the property, the time and the entrance where you will meet.

Delivered to you

Give the full hotel or villa address and agree which entrance to meet at, plus any access instructions.

Handover time

Allow time for paperwork and a car check. Keep your phone on so the company can reach you.

Airport pickup

Choose airport pickup if you need the car on arrival. It has its own meeting point and price.

If the car comes to you after you arrive, arrange the airport transfer yourself. Your booking phone number needs its international code and must stay reachable from the eve of pickup through to the return; report any delays.

At the airport, follow the meeting point and phone number on your voucher.

What will you pay before and at collection?

Your online advance is part of the rental price. Any deposit depends on the car, so check the balance, deposit and payment methods together.

None of the six deals shown asks for a deposit, though other Belle Mare cars may. Check again after choosing dates and cover, as a similar model from another company may differ.

Reserve by paying 15 to 20% online; the rest is settled with the company when the car is handed over. A deposit on another car is a separate payment. Each car shows its own credit card requirement before you book.

Rent and deposit can be paid differently. If the car calls for a credit card, bring a physical, embossed one in the lead driver’s name; a debit card is fine only if your booking says so. Your voucher shows when a deposit comes back.

How do you reach Belle Mare from the airport?

Belle Mare is about 47.9 km and an hour’s clear-road drive from the airport, via the A15, B28 and B58. Cards show other drives.

The drive time starts once you have the car. Getting off the plane, meeting the rep, inspecting the car and loading luggage all come first, then traffic.

From Grand Baie, Belle Mare is about 35.9 km and roughly forty minutes on clear roads, using the M2, Forbach Road and eastern B roads.

Trou d’Eau Douce is a separate stop, about 41.3 km and fifty minutes from the airport via the A15, B28 and B59. Give the company your exact property address. Every card here starts at the airport, not Belle Mare.

Plan the final approach and parking

Check how to reach your property before delivery, and keep to paved public roads even if your sat nav points elsewhere.

  • The airport drive uses A and B roads. Allow time for the last few turns to your property and for finding the right entrance.
  • Ask your hotel or villa about parking and overnight spaces. Having the car delivered there neither books you a bay nor pays for parking.
  • Fuel, parking and any fines come out of your pocket, apart from the rental price and deposit.

Paved public roads only, whether you drive a small car or an SUV. A bigger car does not make a beach track or unpaved road allowed.

If your plans change, let the company know ahead of the return time. Extensions need notice in advance, so leave time to refuel and for the car check.

East-coast driving and local assistance

Traffic keeps left, and at roundabouts you yield to vehicles coming from the right. Belle Mare Police Station has a tourist police office.

Adapt to the road class

Motorways allow cars 110 km/h; the A-road limit is 80 and B roads 60, with lower limits elsewhere. Always follow a different signed limit.

Keep calls for a stop

Using a phone at the wheel is illegal, hands-free too. Set up your sat nav first and pull over safely to make a call.

Notice people and motorcycles

People walk and cycle on the roads, even on motorways and at night. Watch for slow motorbikes without lights.

Save emergency numbers

For police, call 999 or 112. Ambulance is 114 and fire is 115. Have the rental company’s number saved too, for reporting an accident.

Look at the forecast before longer trips. Driving is not allowed in floods or in category three cyclones and stronger, and damage in those conditions is not insured.

Do not mix up category three with a Class III warning, which is a separate scale. Within three hours of a Class III alert the airport closes, and from the three-hour point you may not drive. Follow official instructions.

Airport collection with an eastern return

An airport pickup can, on some bookings, finish at a Belle Mare address. Price that exact pair and confirm the return time with the company.

Start the search at the airport

Choose airport pickup and a Belle Mare return.

Agree the handback address

Confirm the entrance and time for the return check.

Check the entire reservation

Compare the full one-way price, not the round-trip delivery deals.

The company must approve any change of return address. For a Belle Mare pickup with an airport return, search that way round; prices and cars may differ.

Belle Mare daily prices across the months

Each month shows a seven-day rental from the 15th; quote your own car, times and extras.

Months with no price available show N/A.

Keep the same hours when comparing dates. You pay per 24 hours, and any extra part-day costs a full day, so a later return time can raise the price.

From November to May is cyclone season. A cheap month does not let you drive against a warning, so check the latest weather advice and talk to the company if you need to change times.

Arrange passenger needs before delivery

Pick the car and extras together for children or a bigger group. Some delivered cars seat seven; the other deals shown seat five.

Allow for every case

With all seven seats filled, boot space shrinks. Seat count alone does not mean every bag fits.

Reserve suitable restraints

Pick a child seat from the extras for your car, and look over the seat and its fitting before setting off.

Name the extra drivers

Add every driver to the booking. Each one must meet the car’s age and licence rules; a licence on its own is not permission.

Confirm essential features

See if your offer promises that exact model or may swap it. Ask the company to confirm seats and extras you cannot do without.

Compare cover beyond the deposit label

Paying no deposit does not stop you owing money after an accident. Check each car’s cover and excess alongside its deposit.

Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Damage to your hire car (not included)
Basic coverage
  • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
Full Coverage
  • Limited driver liability (Super CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
Full Coverage Plus
  • Full damage cover (included)
  • No driver liability for accident damage (included)

Check the excess. Paying no deposit at pickup does not cover everything you may owe after damage. Read the excess and exclusions before you book.

Standard cover has gaps. Damage to the wheels, interior, windscreen and underbody is not covered as standard. Only a named upgrade says what extra it adds.

After an accident. Phone the company at once. A police report is needed unless the company says it is not. Skipping these steps cancels your cover.

Weather bans still apply. Neglect and deliberate damage cancel cover. Floods and cyclones from category three up mean no driving, and no cover for damage.

Compare the cover levels for your car and how each one changes the deposit and excess. Travel insurance does not replace the reporting steps that rental insurance needs.

Which driving documents are accepted?

Your licence from home must be the original, use the Latin alphabet and stay valid until the car goes back. No photocopies or phone versions.

Additional permit guidance

Licence only valid in your own country? Carrying an IDP with it is strongly advised; have both originals ready for inspection.

Driver eligibility checks

Check the age and experience rules for your car before paying. Similar models can differ, and you may be turned away at pickup.

Some cars ask for a credit card. It must be the lead driver’s own plastic card with raised, embossed details, and an accepted debit card follows the same rule. Phone wallets are not accepted.

Return fuel and inspection conditions

Agree the final meeting with the company. Leave time to take out your things and for the car check before handback.

Use the initial fuel reading

  • Bring it back with the fuel it had when you got it. The company bills its own price for anything missing and pays nothing for a fuller tank.

Keep the condition visible

  • If the car is too dirty to inspect, you pay for a wash. Check it before the final meeting.

Confirm where you will meet on the last day. You cannot leave the keys with someone else or go without an agreed return. Read the full Mauritius rental terms.

Keep the car within the national boundary

This car cannot leave Mauritius, so hand it back on the island before your onward trip.

Changing the return address in Mauritius does not change this rule, and extra cover does not allow it. Book separate transport for any trip to another island.

Changing dates or cancelling before arrival

Check your notice period before changing anything. Where the short-notice option is included, read it together with the refund and missed-pickup rules.

Check the notice period

For ordinary cars, give seven days’ notice; convertibles and luxury cars need thirty. The short-notice option cuts this to twenty-four hours. Miss your deadline and you lose the advance.

Provide the reservation voucher

Send your voucher with the cancellation request to support. An eligible refund is due fourteen days after you ask, minus 6% for processing.

A missed handover without warning counts as a late cancellation, so contact the company first. New dates or a different car mean a fresh booking after cancelling. Ask the agent early if you want more days.

Belle Mare car hire questions

Do the selected deals have a deposit?

The six delivered deals shown here need no deposit. Check again after choosing dates and cover, as this does not apply to every Belle Mare car or similar model.

Does an hour from the airport include collection?

No. The hour is clear-road driving from the airport pickup point. Allow extra for meeting the rep, the car inspection, luggage, traffic and any stops.

Can I start the rental after reaching the hotel?

Yes. Book delivery for the days you need the car and get to the hotel another way first. Confirm the address and a time that lets you check the car.

May a small pet travel in the vehicle?

Small pets are fine as long as they ride in a travel carrier every time.

Is a few hours of hire cheaper than a day?

No. Even a short rental costs a full twenty-four-hour day, and each extra part-day counts as another day. Enter both times exactly when you check prices.
