Car hire at Girona Airport

Flying into Girona for the Costa Brava? These car rental offers are delivered to an address in Girona, not handed over at the airport.

Car hire deals in Girona

These cars are delivered to an address in Girona and collected from it at the end. Any delivery charge is already in the price shown.

How much room will you need?

Class figures are typical day rates for the same week as the deals, delivery charge included. The five economy cars carry a delivery charge of €240 or €400 for the week, while three of the five premium cars carry none, which is why premium shows the lower day rate.

Want the car waiting when you land? Several other airports in Spain have cars handed over on arrival.

Where do you collect in Girona?

Build a little space into your arrival day so a flight delay does not leave you rushing to the delivery address.

Where you are staying

Have the full accommodation address ready when asking for delivery, including any useful entrance details for the company.

Time to get there

Choose a handover time that leaves room for passport control, baggage and your onward journey after the flight lands.

Delivery charge

Many Girona cars add a delivery charge. It is already in the price shown, so compare totals rather than day rates.

Barcelona is about 1 h 30 min south by road; car rental in Barcelona adds pickup at El Prat, a city rental office and delivery.

  • Airport Wi-Fi Log in by email and confirm it in 15 minutes.

  • Courtesy time of two hours follows the end of a booked stay.

Do you need a credit card to hire a car for Girona Airport?

Not for these cars. Each delivery car still holds a deposit of €300 to €1,800, listed before you book.

Paying without a credit card can still mean a debit card for the deposit; each car lists what it accepts, as with other cars in Spain that need no credit card.

Nothing in Girona comes without a deposit. Malaga and Alicante airports both list cars that are car rental in Spain with no deposit.

Driving safely after collection

Lanes and direction

Keep right, and keep out of lanes painted for buses, taxis or cyclists; driving in one can bring a fine.

Leaving roundabouts

Use the outer right-hand lane to leave a roundabout unless signs say otherwise; go around again if you cannot reach it safely.

Breakdown equipment

Spanish law requires a connected V-16 light and a reflective vest in the car. Ask to see both at handover.

After an accident

If the car is damaged, call the company immediately. Get a police report unless you have agreed another procedure.

Your first drive from Girona

Fuel, parking and tolls on your drives are paid by you, so allow for them in the budget.

From the airport: Girona, about 25 min; Lloret de Mar, about 40 min; Tossa de Mar, about 50 min; Figueres, about 50 min; Barcelona, about 1 h 30 min.

Times are for clear roads without stops; the Girona figure ends in the old town.

Stick to paved public roads

Choose a delivery address reached by paved public roads. The same rule applies to the rest of your drive, including accommodation entrances.

Driving abroad

Some Girona cars list a paid extra for entering France and Andorra. Tell the company before you go so it can prepare the documents.

Can you choose a different return location?

The prices here start and end at your Girona address. A return somewhere else is a separate search with its own price.

Choose both places

Search with Girona as pickup and your return place as drop-off, then book only a pairing that is listed.

Check the total

The search total includes any return charge. Compare it with the round-trip price before you decide.

Confirm the return

Agree where the company will take the car back. Include time for the final inspection when planning the end of your stay.

How Girona prices change by month

Each bar is a typical day rate for a week of town delivery in that month. Search your own dates for a live price.

N/A: no cars on offer yet for that month.

Passengers, pets and extra drivers

Extra drivers

Will someone else drive after delivery? Include them in the booking and check the requirements for that car.

Child seats

Request any child seat before the car is delivered. Ask the company to confirm that it can provide what you need.

Bags and seats

Tell the company how many passengers and cases you have. Include a pushchair when checking whether the boot will be large enough.

Travelling pets

Only small pets can travel in the rental car. Keep your pet in a carrier for the whole journey.

Cover on Girona delivery cars

The quoted Mini, BMWs and Toyotas show how far cover varies between delivery cars.

Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Damage to your hire car (not included)
Basic coverage
  • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
Full Coverage

  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
Full Coverage Plus

  • No driver liability for accident damage (included)

Basic cover with a high excess. The Mini and the BMWs include Basic cover (CDW) with a €1,800 excess, the same as their deposit.

Full cover as an extra. On those cars, Full Coverage (SuperCDW) is a paid extra that cuts the excess to nothing and the deposit to €300.

Lower excess on the Toyotas. The Toyota Corolla and C-HR include Basic cover with a €300 excess and a €300 deposit.

Outside any cover. Damage to wheels, underbody, glass or interior is excluded, and neglect cancels the insurance.

Licence and age for the delivery

The licence must be the original, still valid on your last rental day, with details in Latin script. Photos and scans are refused.

Home-country licences

A licence recognised only where it was issued should be paired with an International Driving Permit.

Age and years

Minimum age and driving years are set per car, and similar cars can ask different things.

Fuel and cleaning before the collection

Fuel at return

  • Note the fuel level at the delivery address and replace what you use. Missing fuel is charged, while extra fuel earns no refund.

Vehicle condition

  • Leave the car clean enough for the company to check its condition at return. A wash may be charged if inspection is difficult.

Can you cancel a Girona delivery booking?

Yes, by email. Some cars carry an option that allows cancelling up to 24 hours before delivery.

Notice without it

A week’s notice for standard cars, 30 days for luxury cars and convertibles; a missed delivery loses the advance.

Refund

Send the voucher to support. The advance is repaid within 14 days less the 6% payment fee, and new dates mean rebooking.
