Car hire at Ibiza Airport

Local firms hand over cars at Ibiza Airport, each showing its deposit, whether a credit card is needed and any daily kilometre cap before you book.

Cheap car rental at Ibiza Airport

Week-long totals for the cheapest cars collected and returned at IBZ. All six need a credit card and hold a deposit of €1,400 to €2,000.

Which size works for your group?

A typical offer costs more than €22 a day. The far lower figures belong to cars that need a credit card and hold €1,400 or more.

Each tile uses the same week as the deals. Premium rests on one car and convertible on two.

Seven-seaters and automatics both appear; filter for them first. Like everywhere in Spain, local firms set their own rules.

Where do you meet the rental firm at Ibiza Airport?

Your voucher names the firm, gives its number and says where it meets you.

Arrivals

Bypass the rental desks and go where the voucher says. Calling the firm saves a search if the spot is hard to find.

Late landings

Night pickups are not on every car and some cost more. Use your real landing time in the search.

Early departures

A dawn return is not possible on every car. Search with the real return time and allow time for the check.

Every car in the search for car hire in Ibiza is handed over at this airport too, and Ibiza Town is about 15 minutes away.

  2. Flight delays If you land late, ring the company on the voucher number.
  3. Check the car Walk round the car with the company and note any damage on the paperwork.
Stay reachable Give a working number with its country code, and keep it on from the day before collection to the end.

Driving away from the airport

  3. Roadside checks Police carry out alcohol and drug tests on Spanish roads.
Fire season Wildfires break out often in summer, on the islands as well, so drive with care through pine woods.

Do you need a credit card to hire a car at Ibiza Airport?

Only on some cars. Each car states its card rule and how the deposit is taken.

No credit cardOn many cars
€100 to €3,000Deposit, set per car
15 to 20%Paid online to book
At pickupRest paid to the company

A required credit card must be a physical, embossed card in the lead driver’s name, so a phone wallet will not do. Cars that skip it list their accepted methods, as do all cars in Spain that need no credit card.

Every IBZ car holds a deposit of €100 to €3,000, while Malaga and Alicante airports list cars that are car rental in Spain with no deposit.

Road rules for an island trip

Lanes and direction

Drive on the right and keep out of lanes marked for buses, taxis or bikes; using one can bring a fine.

Leaving roundabouts

Unless signs allow otherwise, exit from the outer roundabout lane. Go around again if you cannot reach that lane safely.

Breakdown equipment

The law requires a connected V-16 light and a reflective vest in Spanish-registered cars; locate both while you check the car.

After an accident

Tell the company at once and get a police report unless it agrees otherwise. Without both, the cover can be cancelled.

Leaving Ibiza Airport for your accommodation

Fuel, parking and any charges for using a road are yours to pay during the hire, so keep a little budget aside.

From the airport: Ibiza Town, about 15 min; Sant Antoni, about 30 min; Santa Eulària, about 35 min; Cala Comte, about 40 min.

These times assume clear roads and no stops; the Ibiza Town figure ends on Passeig de Vara de Rey.

Stick to paved public roads

Use paved roads to reach beach parking. A dirt track remains outside the rental agreement even when other cars use it.

Taking your car to another island

Ask the company before planning an inter-island journey with your car; do not assume ferry travel is permitted.

Can you return your Ibiza Airport car elsewhere?

For a return elsewhere, get an offer for that location. A return on another island does not itself give you permission to use a ferry.

Choose both places

Set the airport as pickup and the place you want to finish as the return. Book only a pairing the search shows.

Check the total

Price the booking with the return you need. Check the full amount, including any location fee, before making your choice.

Confirm the return

Ask the company for the exact return point and procedure. Keep enough time free for unloading and checking the vehicle.

How Ibiza prices change by month

A week in a different month can have a different price. Use the chart for planning, then enter your exact island dates.

N/A: no cars on offer yet for that month.

People, pets and luggage

Extra drivers

Share the driving only with someone added to the booking. Check the age and experience rules for each driver.

Child seats

Need a child seat? Add it when choosing the car and confirm that the company can supply the right equipment.

Bags and seats

Count the bags as well as the people. Make sure luggage fits without using seats that your passengers need.

Travelling pets

The rental terms allow small pets in travel carriers. Your pet needs to remain in its carrier during every drive.

How does cover work on Ibiza Airport cars?

There is no single rule, so compare the levels on the car you pick.

Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Damage to your hire car (not included)
Basic coverage
  • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
Full Coverage
  • Limited driver liability (Super CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
Full Coverage Plus
  • Full damage cover (included)
  • No driver liability for accident damage (included)

Per car. Each listing shows its cover levels, the excess on each and the deposit; upgrading can reduce both.

Exclusions. No standard policy pays for wheels, the underside, the windscreen or the interior.

Voided cover. Neglect, vandalism or deliberate damage cancels the insurance at any level.

Deposits up to €3,000. That sum secures the excess, your share of any damage bill.

What to bring for the handover

The original national licence, valid through the last rental day, with Latin-script details. Scans and digital licences will not be accepted.

Home-only licences

Add an International Driving Permit if your licence is only valid where it was issued.

Age and experience

Firms set age and licence-year minimums car by car, so filter by driver before choosing.

Fuel and sand at the return

Bring the tank back to the level it had at pickup.

Fuel

  • Below the pickup level costs the firm’s fuel price; above it earns nothing back.

Beach days

  • Shake out the beach sand: a car too dirty to check gets washed at your expense.

Can you cancel an Ibiza Airport booking?

Yes. With the 24-hour option, carried by many cars here, you can cancel up to a day before pickup.

Without the option

Cancel a week before, or 30 days before for luxury cars and convertibles; after that the advance is gone.

Money back

Email support with the voucher. The advance is refunded within 14 days, less 6% for payment costs.

Ibiza Airport car rental questions

Can I hire a car at Ibiza Airport without a credit card?

Yes, on many cars here. If you use a debit card it must be a physical, embossed card in the lead driver’s name.

Is there a deposit on Ibiza Airport car hire?

Every car here holds one, between €100 and €3,000 depending on the car and cover; the figure shows before booking.

Can I return the car for an early flight?

Not every car can be returned at every hour, and some add a charge. Enter your real return time when you search.

Will I get the exact model in the photo?
