Car rental in Oman without a credit card

Hire a car in Oman with no credit card on many cars: Muscat or Salalah airport, an office, a hotel or delivery, and pay another way.

Car hire deals without a credit card

Where can you collect in Oman?

Muttrah is served from Muscat and Mirbat from Salalah. Airport handover of a town car can add a charge; the voucher names your meeting point.

How is the hire bill settled?

Reservation payment

In Oman, 15 to 20% is paid online and the rest at handover. Delivery sits outside the advance but inside the quoted total.

Balance methods

Some Omani cars take cash and card for the balance; check your booking first. Prices are in US dollars, so use the voucher amounts.

Debit acceptance

Omani debit use must be written into booking and voucher. The card must be physical, embossed and the main driver’s, on an accepted network.

Comparing costs

Paying another way does not lower the price. Compare full quotes for the same pickup, dates and extras, not just the daily rate.

What funds are needed for security?

Cash security

Some Muscat and Salalah cars accept a cash deposit, in Muscat both small and large. Ask how it is returned; there is no set period.

Card security

At Muscat Airport, some cars want the deposit by debit or credit, never cash, and some limit networks. Check it apart from the rent payment.

Insurance for your Oman car hire

Once payment is clear, choose cover. Look at the level, the damage share you keep and the deposit before booking.

Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Damage to your hire car (not included)
Basic coverage
  • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
Full Coverage
  • Limited driver liability (Super CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
Full Coverage Plus
  • Full damage cover (included)
  • No driver liability for accident damage (included)
  • Basic includes CDW, which caps what covered collision damage costs you. Interior, undercarriage, windscreen and wheels are excluded; check what upgrades add.
  • Full Coverage’s Super CDW still leaves you a share. On some Muscat cars it is lower while the deposit stays the same; elsewhere it matches Basic.
  • Some Muscat cars sell Full Coverage Plus at individual prices, removing your accident-damage share; Salalah cars lack it. More cover does not always cut the deposit.
  • Neglect or deliberate vandalism voids Omani insurance. The car must stay in Oman on paved public roads; an upgrade does not allow border crossings.
If an insured event occurs

Tell your Omani company right away and obtain a police report, unless they agreed a different way. If the reports are not made, cover is void and the whole damage bill falls to you.

Which Salalah cars still ask for a card?

Delivered alternatives

Some Salalah and Mirbat deliveries need a credit card even with no deposit, while taking only cash for the hire. Check the booking you choose.

Required physical card

A credit offer needs a card belonging to the main driver, embossed and shown at pickup; the online advance does not cover this.

How to find an eligible booking

  1. Set your journey

Pick your Omani arrival and return points with dates and times. Give the driver’s age and experience so each car’s rules apply.

  2. Apply the filter

In the payment filters, choose No credit card and look at a car. Pick extras and fill in the renter details.

  3. Keep supplier details

Keep the emailed confirmation with its contacts, and ask the company about the car or service before heading to pickup.

Payment method versus money held

Alternative payment

No credit card answers how you can pay, not how much is held while you drive. Use it when your payment method decides.

No deposit

No deposit answers whether money is held on the trip. The hire is still due and card rules apply.

Questions before your Omani collection

Which licence do I need to rent a car in Oman without a credit card?

The physical national licence, in Latin script and valid throughout the rental; digital licences and copies do not count. If it allows home driving only, Oman strongly recommends carrying an IDP too, shown on request.

Do these Oman cars have unlimited kilometres?

Yes. Some cars come with unlimited mileage and others with a daily kilometre cap. Check your car before long Omani drives; paying without a credit card does not change it. Salalah has a separate fleet, so check its own mileage terms.

Will a late arrival at Muscat change my rental total?

It can. Some Muscat Airport car rentals charge for handovers outside working hours, shown in the quote. Enter both pickup and return times.

How much notice do I need to cancel?

Ordinary cars need 7 days and convertibles or luxury cars 30; with the cancellation option, 24 hours. Late changes, late cancellation or unarranged non-collection forfeit the advance. Omani refunds take up to 14 days, less 6% of the advance.

Can I drive my Oman rental car to another province?

Ask booking support when you reserve whether your route may leave the pickup province. Company rules can change the price and terms, so get approval first. The car cannot cross into the UAE, even for a day.
