How will the airport collection work?

Pick up at Muscat International Airport (MCT), from a town office or by delivery to your address. Each company sets its own meeting arrangement.

Airport pickup

At the airport the company may meet you or arrange a transfer. Check your voucher and keep its phone number handy.

Office or delivery

Office pickup uses the company’s address. For delivery, give your exact address in Muscat when you book.

Airport location

The airport sits on Sultan Qaboos Road between Muscat and Al-Seeb. Your voucher shows where to meet the company.

Some cars listed for office pickup can also be handed over at Muscat Airport, sometimes for a charge. Choose the airport in your search to see these offers.

Give your real arrival time. Some airport offers charge outside the company’s working hours, and the quote shows the amount. If your flight changes, tell the company.

What payment arrangements should I compare?

Prices are shown in euros. Deposit, balance payment and accepted cards depend on the car, so read its conditions as well as the price.

Two payments to check. The balance and the deposit can have different payment rules. Even with no credit card needed, bring a way to pay that the voucher accepts.

You pay 15 to 20% online and the rest at pickup. Any deposit is separate.

If a credit card is required, the main driver must bring their own embossed card. Debit cards must be accepted for your booking and also be embossed. Cars that need no credit card still list their own payment methods.

A deposit-free car does not mean more kilometres or more cover. Check the mileage and insurance on every car.

Check the car’s kilometre allowance against your whole trip, including the drive back.

Parking at Muscat Airport and during the city stay

The airport has short- and long-stay parking, but that is not where you return the car. Follow your company’s instructions and the airport signs.

  • Muscat Airport’s parking machines take Omani rials, so have some ready if you use a car park.
  • Forecourt stops are for drop-offs only: ten minutes at most, and never leave the car unattended.

For a longer wait, use short-stay parking; see the airport’s access and parking information. Never leave a rental car on the forecourt or return it there without agreement.

If the car is delivered to your accommodation, ask about guest parking and check the rules for the bay.

You pay fuel, parking, fines and tolls, separate from the rental balance and deposit. Agree the return details, so parking near the drop-off is not taken as returning the car.

Confirm province travel before leaving Muscat

Travel outside the province must be confirmed when you book, as companies set their own terms and prices. Paved public roads only.

Discuss the full route

Tell support the places you plan to visit when you book and get confirmation. A distance on this page does not mean the trip is allowed.

Read the distance allowance

Check the car’s kilometre allowance and the cost of extra distance. Count the return leg and local driving too.

SUVs and unpaved roads

An SUV does not change the paved-road rule. Desert tracks, dunes and unpaved roads are not allowed; book desert trips separately.

Mountain roads

A mountain road on your sat nav is not automatically allowed. We give no drive time for Jebel Akhdar, Jebel Shams’ upper road or desert camps.

The Oman rental conditions cover the province rule and the road and border limits. Permission to leave the province does not let you cross into another country.

A city-to-city return between Muscat and Salalah

Some cars can go one-way between Muscat and Salalah in either direction, with city delivery at both ends. Confirm province travel and both addresses.

Choose both cities

Set your start and end cities before you compare.

Muscat Airport to Salalah city is 1,016 kilometres, about 11 h 30 min without stops. Check one-way availability, mileage and the drop-off fee for your dates, and confirm province travel when you book. Car hire in Salalah starts the rental there instead.

What does the Muscat monthly comparison cover?

Each bar is a seven-day hire picked up on the 15th, shown as a daily price in euros.

One week a month, November 2026 to October 2027. Enter your dates for current cars.

Each figure is for that one week, not every rental that month. Airport, office or delivery pickup can change the price too.

For a long trip, check the mileage, return place and any province permission as well as the daily price. Search your exact dates before you pay.

Select enough seats without losing the luggage space

Some Muscat cars seat seven or eight. Check there is still room for bags when every seat is full.

    Review the full specification

Compare seats, gearbox and luggage space on the car you choose. If a similar car may be supplied, agree must-haves with the company first.

    Keep the driver prepared

The driver must meet the car’s age and experience rules. Bring the original documents and any required card, at the airport or in town.

    Allow time at pickup

A group takes longer to load bags and sign paperwork. Your first drive starts after handover, not when the flight lands.

    Seats and mileage

Extra seats do not lift a mileage cap or the province rule. Tell the company your route before you book a car for the group.

    Understand Muscat rental insurance levels

Third-party liability is the base cover; some cars offer more. Check the levels, exclusions and excess before you choose.

    Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
    • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
    • Damage to your hire car (not included)
    Basic coverage
    • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
    • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
    • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
    Full Coverage
    • Limited driver liability (Super CDW) (included)
    • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
    Full Coverage Plus
    • Full damage cover (included)
    • No driver liability for accident damage (included)

Standard cover has gaps. Interior, windscreen, underside and wheels are excluded. Basic CDW does not cover glass or tyres.

Compare the levels. Full includes Super CDW, and Plus, where offered, removes your liability for accidental damage. The deposit is separate from your excess.

Report at once. Tell the company and get a police report unless it agrees otherwise. If you do not, the insurance is void and you pay in full.

Keep to the rules. Neglect, vandalism and deliberate damage void cover. Road, border and province limits still apply.

Bring a licence the agreement accepts

    Licence at collection

Bring your original licence in Latin letters, valid until return. No copies or digital licences; if it only covers your home country, add an IDP.

    Driver and payment documents

Show your IDP if asked. Check the car’s age and experience rules before you pay; the company can refuse a driver who does not qualify.

Similar models can have different rules, so check the actual car.

Keep the rental period and contact accurate

    Rental period

    • Even a few hours count as a full 24-hour day. Enter exact times, and ask the company before the end if you want to keep the car longer.

    Fuel and cleaning

    • Return the same fuel level. Missing fuel is charged at the company’s rate and extra is not refunded; you pay for washing if dirt stops the inspection.

Give a phone number with the country code that works from the day before pickup to the end of the rental, so the company can reach you.

    The vehicle stays inside Oman

Rental cars in Oman cannot cross international borders. Permission to leave the province does not let you drive on into the UAE.

Return the car in Oman before you travel on. A Muscat to Salalah one-way stays inside Oman and cannot end abroad.

Check the cancellation deadline for your vehicle

    Notice and conditions

Cancel 7 days ahead for an ordinary car, or 30 days for luxury cars and convertibles. With the cancellation option, you can cancel up to 24 hours before pickup.

    Refund and booking changes

Email support with your voucher. Refunds are paid within 14 days, minus a 6% fee. Missing pickup without agreement or cancelling late loses the advance.

To change a booking, cancel it and book again, so check the deadline first.

Other questions before a Muscat booking

Are office vehicles also available at the airport?

Some cars listed for office pickup can be handed over at Muscat Airport, sometimes for a charge. Choose the airport in your search and follow the meeting instructions.

Can I use the car on a desert track if it is an SUV?

No. Every car, SUV or not, must stay on paved public roads. Book dune or desert camp trips separately; extra cover does not change this.

    Is an exact model guaranteed?

Only if the offer says so. Some cars are booked as the named model; others may be a similar car. Confirm must-have seats or equipment first.

Can a small pet come with me?

Yes, small pets can travel in a carrier on every journey. The car must still pass the normal return check.

Can I drive a Muscat rental car to another province?

Only if it is agreed. Ask booking support when you reserve. The company may set its own price and conditions for travel outside the province.
