Cheap no-deposit car hire

Where can you collect?

What do you pay for?

Booking advance

To book online, prepay a 15 to 20% share of the rental. It is due even on a no-deposit car.

Rental balance

At pickup, the company collects the remaining hire price. Your booking says which payment methods it accepts.

Collection charges

Airport handover or delivery may cost extra even with nothing held. Any such charge is in the quoted total.

Night arrivals

Athens airport pickups outside opening hours can carry a surcharge. Quote with both handover times for the true price.

How does the security deposit work?

Nothing held

Nothing is kept as a deposit when you collect a zero-deposit car. The figure beside each car is for its starting cover.

Refund arrangements

If you go for a car with a deposit, check how it is taken and released. The voucher records these terms.

Insurance for Greek car hire

You still pick a cover level on a no-deposit car. Read what protection the car you choose offers.

Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Damage to your hire car (not included)
Basic coverage
  • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
Full Coverage
  • Limited driver liability (Super CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
Full Coverage Plus
  • Full damage cover (included)
  • No driver liability for accident damage (included)
  • Standard cover leaves out the interior, underside, wheels and windscreen. See what extra protection any upgrade adds.
  • Insurance is void after neglect, vandalism or deliberate damage. An upgrade does not lift these exclusions or your duties under the agreement.
  • Plus appears on certain Athens and Thessaloniki cars. Do not count on it in Rhodes or Corfu; check the car’s cover menu.
  • More cover can lower an existing deposit, or not change it at all. Lower does not always mean zero.
  • Some cars at Thessaloniki Airport hold no deposit, so compare their cover levels before you pick one.
  • Some Rhodes Airport cars hold no deposit at all, but none on Rhodes offers Full Coverage Plus, so compare the excess as well.
  • Every car at Kos Airport takes a deposit, and on most of them Basic is the highest cover offered at booking.
If an insured incident happens

Call the rental company straight away. A police report is needed too, unless the company says it is not. Skip these steps and the insurance is cancelled, leaving you to pay everything.

Which rentals still require a deposit?

Other Greek cars

Athens, Thessaloniki and Rhodes have deposit cars as well. A lower daily rate can come with money to leave at pickup.

Corfu choices

In Corfu, plan for a refundable deposit. Some cars there take it in cash or by debit card, depending on their terms.

How to filter for the right car

  1. Set the journey

Choose where in Greece you pick up and return, then the dates and times. The search opens on Thessaloniki first.

  2. Select No deposit

Tick No deposit and pick a car. Make sure its deposit is still zero with the cover you choose.

  3. Check and book

Check the card rule and how the balance is paid, then book. Save the email with the company’s contact details.

Security holds and accepted payment methods

The security amount

Zero deposit does not settle how you pay. Some Rhodes cars still require credit, so the main driver must show their own embossed card.

The payment method

Paying without a credit card can still come with a deposit, taken in cash or on a debit card on some cars. Debit means the driver’s own physical, embossed card.

Questions about your rental

Can I choose an automatic without leaving a deposit?

Yes. Athens Airport, Thessaloniki and Rhodes all have automatics with no deposit; set your gearbox when you compare.

Do these rentals have a daily distance allowance?

No-deposit cars in Athens and Thessaloniki have no daily kilometre cap. Check the mileage line on your car before a long drive.

What happens to my advance if I cancel?

Ordinary cars need a week, luxury models or convertibles thirty days, and one day if you took the cancellation option. Late changes or cancelling, or not collecting without agreement, lose the prepayment. Refunds come back within fourteen days, less the 6% payment fee.

Does renting deposit-free include fuel and road charges?

No. You pay for fuel, tolls, parking and any traffic fines, separate from any deposit, so budget for them.

How much fuel should I leave when returning the car?

Return it with the same fuel reading as at pickup. Any shortfall costs the company’s fuel price, and a surplus is not repaid.
