Car rental at Bodrum Airport

Rent a car at Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV) from local companies. Weekly totals already include the cost of bringing the car to the airport.

Cheap car hire at Bodrum Airport

Many cars are driven to the airport by the company, and each card below is the full week with that journey priced in.

Which size for the Bodrum peninsula?

The tiles start from the cheapest car in each class that same week. Half of all offers top €106 a day, almost all of them cars brought from another base for a fee.

Renting somewhere else in Turkey later in the trip? The conditions below stay the same.

Meeting your company at Milas-Bodrum Airport

Your voucher, not a sign in the hall, tells you where the handover happens. It also carries the company’s number.

Read it before landing

Open the voucher at home and note the meeting instructions, so they are to hand when you land.

Message on arrival

Use the number in the voucher to say you have landed, especially if bags take a while to come through.

Check the car

Walk round the car with the company and agree any marks before you sign. Photos on your phone help later.

A handover charge is common here because many cars come from a base elsewhere. It is shown inside the total before you book.

Bodrum Airport guide: terminals, parking and the return

The two terminals, parking during the hire and how the return works with your booking.

Collecting and returning your car

  1. Find the meeting point Follow the voucher; it names the place and how to get there.
  2. Late flight? Search with your real landing time so any night charge is priced.
  3. Hand the car back at the agreed point, then head to your terminal.

Driving away from Bodrum Airport

  1. Towards Bodrum Most of the drive to town and the peninsula is on the D330.
  2. Towards Milas The town is the other way along the D330.
  3. Roundabouts Unless signs or lights say otherwise, cars entering give way to those going round.

The two terminals

  • Domestic terminal for flights within Turkey.
  • International terminal for flights from abroad.
  • Which terminal? Check which one your flight uses before you agree the return.

Parking and the return point

  • Return pointIn your voucher
  • Parking costsYours to pay

Any parking during the hire, at the airport or in town, is paid by you.

  • Ticket on the car? Parking fines are yours as well.
  • Camera fine? It can be issued in the renter’s name and collected from the renter.

Can you rent at Bodrum Airport with no deposit?

Yes, some cars take no deposit at all, while others hold one in cash or on a card. A few still need a credit card at the handover; the car shows which.

Search car rental in Turkey with no deposit to see where these cars are offered. Fuel, fines and tolls still have to be paid.

Where a credit card is required, only the main driver’s own embossed card will do, and it must be with you at the meeting. Browse cars in Turkey that need no credit card if you do not carry one.

Online you pay a share of the rent only. The balance and the handover charge are paid to the company when you collect.

Roads and rules around the peninsula

Turkey drives on the right. Town streets are 50 km/h unless a sign says otherwise.

Outside towns

Cars may do 90 km/h on two-way roads and 110 on divided roads. Signed limits always come first.

Seat belts

Belts are worn in every seat, front and back, and children travel in a restraint that suits them.

Drink-driving

The legal limit depends on the vehicle type, so the only safe level before driving is none at all.

After a bump

Call 112 if anyone is hurt. Then contact the company and get a police report unless it waives it.

Paved roads only

The car may only use paved public roads, so leave unsurfaced lanes to bays and hilltop villages alone, whatever the map shows.

Turkey only

A car rented in Turkey may not leave the country, so the car stays behind on any trip to the Greek islands, whatever cover you buy.

Can you return the car at Dalaman or Izmir?

Yes, on some cars. A Bodrum Airport pickup can end at Dalaman Airport or Izmir Airport; enter the return airport to see the one-way charge.

Choose the airport

Pick the airport as the drop-off, not the city, and compare the one-way total on each car.

Confirm the meeting

Ask where the company meets you at the far airport, and save its number.

Agree changes first

Moving the return to another place needs the company’s agreement. Return it only where agreed.

For flights home from the north, Izmir Airport is the other return offered from here.

Flying out east instead? Dalaman Airport takes returns from this airport on some cars.

When is Bodrum Airport cheapest?

Lowest day rate for a week from the 15th of each month, with pickup and return at the airport. Prices for your dates can differ.

N/A: no cars are listed yet for that month.

Months far ahead list fewer cars, so check again nearer the date.

The clock runs in 24-hour days: return a few hours late and a whole extra day is charged.

Extra drivers, children and big groups

Plan seats and drivers at the booking stage, since changes at the airport are not guaranteed.

Extra driver

Add them to the contract first, as an extra where the car offers it. The car shows the fee.

Seats for children

Request baby seats, child seats or boosters where offered, then check each one before you drive off.

Nine-seaters

Vans with up to nine seats can be collected here. Count bags as well as people.

Pets

Small pets only, kept in a travel carrier for the whole rental. Plan room for the carrier.

Insurance and excess on a Bodrum Airport car

Read each cover level for your damage share and deposit, as they vary by car.

Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Damage to your hire car (not included)
Basic coverage
  • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
Full Coverage
  • Limited driver liability (Super CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
Full Coverage Plus
  • Full damage cover (included)
  • No driver liability for accident damage (included)

Not every level everywhere. Some cars here offer no Full Coverage Plus, so the top level may be Full Coverage.

Deposit can change. On cars with the top level, the deposit can drop to nothing. Check each level’s figure.

Standard exclusions. Wheels, underside, windscreen and interior are outside standard cover.

When cover fails. Neglect or deliberate damage voids it, and so does not reporting damage straight away.

Our insurance page sets out damage cover and excess without the jargon.

Driving licence and the IDP

Bring the original licence, in Latin script, valid through the last day. A copy or an app licence is refused at the handover.

When to add an IDP

If your licence counts only in its home country, add an International Driving Permit and keep both together.

Age rules

Minimum age and years licensed are set per car and can change between similar models.

Fuel, cleaning and charges after the trip

Some costs arrive after you fly home, so keep your receipts.

Same fuel level

  • Return the fuel you were given. A lower level is charged at the company’s rate; a higher one is not repaid.

Washing

  • If the car is too dirty to inspect, cleaning goes on your bill.

Motorway and bridge tolls recorded on the car are taken from the deposit, with an admin charge.

Cancellation and refunds

To change dates or the car, cancel and rebook; the original car may then go to someone else.

How far ahead

Seven days’ notice for most cars, thirty for luxury models and convertibles, or 24 hours on bookings sold with the cancellation option.

Money back

Send the voucher to support by email. The advance is refunded within fourteen days, minus 6% for payment costs.

Missing the pickup without warning counts as a late cancellation, and the advance is kept.

Bodrum Airport car rental FAQ

Is an international driving permit needed for a UK licence?

The UK government says it is: bring a 1968 international driving permit, or have your UK licence notarised in Turkish. You can only buy the permit in the UK.

Can I get an automatic at Bodrum Airport?

Yes, automatics are offered here. Check the gearbox on the car itself, as the photo or model name does not confirm it.

Do Bodrum Airport rental cars have unlimited mileage?

Not always. Many cars have a daily kilometre allowance shown on the car; some offer unlimited mileage as a paid extra.

Will the model be exactly as shown?

Only if the offer guarantees the model. “Or similar” means another car of the same class can be supplied.

Can I add days during my holiday?

Tell the company in advance, before the booking ends; the rental terms require it.
