Car hire in Protaras

Local rental firms deliver to your Protaras accommodation. Find automatics that need no credit card, cars with no deposit, and the cover laid out before booking.

Cheap car hire with Protaras delivery

All six prices include delivery and collection, which cost different amounts by car. Compare the cover too: some start with Minimum and most include Basic.

Automatic vehicles for a resort-based hire

How do you arrange delivery at a Protaras property?

Agree your address and a legal meeting spot with the company. There is no desk in the resort, and the car cannot stop anywhere.

Set the address

Give the property name and any access instructions. Agree a safe handover spot that does not block traffic or break parking rules.

Stay reachable

Keep the phone number on your booking switched on. If your arrival changes, tell the company and agree a new time.

Check the car

Check the car and note its fuel before you set off. Check your extras and agree the return while the driver is there.

Delivery in Protaras starts at the resort. Need the car when you land? Book Larnaca Airport pickup or Paphos Airport pickup.

Delivery and collection charges differ by car, and some cars charge for delivery only. They are already in the prices shown, so do not add them again.

Can a Protaras rental have no deposit?

Yes, some cars have no deposit, but may start with Minimum (TPL) cover only. No deposit does not mean damage to the car is covered.

Check which payment methods the car accepts. If a credit card is needed, bring an embossed card in the main driver’s own name. Debit works only where the booking and voucher allow it, on the same terms.

An advance of 15 to 20% of the rental books the car. Delivery is in the total but may not count towards the advance.

How far is Protaras from Larnaca Airport?

Protaras is 65.1 kilometres from Larnaca Airport, about an hour on clear roads. Every card starts at Larnaca Airport; allow extra for traffic, stops and handover.

Protaras is 178 kilometres from Paphos Airport, allowing 150 minutes. With resort delivery, you need your own transfer from the airport first.

Drive times end in the town, so plan the last streets to your address. Staying in Ayia Napa? Book delivery there instead.

Kavo Gkreko and other roads you cannot use

You cannot drive into Kavo Gkreko National Park or on the roads leading to it, even though it is close to the resort.

The Baths of Adonis waterfall, Akamas Reserve, Lara Bay turtle beach, Blue Lagoon and Avakas Gorge are off-limits too, with their access roads. Drive on paved public roads only; a bigger car or extra cover does not change this.

Check the parking signs in the resort. Double yellow lines ban parking and waiting; single yellow allows loading and unloading only. Arrange parking at your accommodation separately.

Driving from the resort meeting point

Take time to get used to driving on the left. Set your sat nav before you move and learn the car’s controls.

Check driving controls

Most hire cars in Cyprus are right-hand drive, but check yours. Make sure every named driver knows the controls and gearbox before you leave.

Read the speed signs

The usual limit is 50 km/h in towns and 80 elsewhere. On motorways, drive between 65 km/h and 100 km/h. Posted signs always win.

Use restraints

Seat belts and suitable child seats are required. Check the child seats at delivery, even before a short drive.

Know whom to call

Ring 112 in an emergency. If there is an accident or damage, let the company know straight away and get a police report unless it agrees you need not.

Can you finish the Protaras hire at an airport?

Some cars can be delivered in Protaras and returned at Larnaca Airport or Paphos Airport. Each return has its own price, so choose your airport before comparing.

Set the return airport

Choose Larnaca Airport or Paphos Airport, not the town of the same name. Check the return place and time together.

Get meeting directions

Ask where the company will meet you and how the inspection works. Public airport drop-off areas are not return points.

Allow return time

Plan from your resort address, adding time for fuel, the inspection and check-in. Agree any later change with the company first.

The route cards show drives from the airport. Treat them as a guide for the return, as your meeting point may be elsewhere.

Compare Protaras delivery across the year

Each month uses a seven-day hire with delivery in Protaras and shows the lowest daily price. Airport and other towns are not mixed in.

Any delivery charge is included in the daily price. You pay for at least twenty-four hours, and any day you start is charged in full. Search with your real times, extras and cover.

Prepare the passengers and authorised drivers

Check who is travelling and what extras you need before delivery, so the car suits everyone.

Check luggage capacity

All six cars seat five, but boot space differs. Check your bags and bulky items with the seats you will use.

Reserve child seats

Book suitable child seats and check them before you set off. Children need them from the very first drive, however short.

Approve another driver

Add any extra driver to the booking before they drive. They must meet the car’s age and years licensed rules.

Keep pets in carriers

A small pet must stay in its carrier on every drive. Leave room for the carrier alongside passengers and luggage.

How cover differs between Protaras cars

An upgrade changes only the car you pick, not every car in the search. Check the deposit and excess at the level you want.

Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Damage to your hire car (not included)
Basic coverage
  • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
Full Coverage
  • Limited driver liability (Super CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
Full Coverage Plus
  • Full damage cover (included)
  • No driver liability for accident damage (included)

Upgrades can lower the figures. On some cars, paid Basic lowers the deposit and excess, and paid Full lowers them further. Neither reaches zero, and there is no Plus.

Basic included. Most of these cars start with CDW and a deposit. Paid Plus brings both the deposit and excess to zero.

No deposit at any level. Some cars start with TPL, which does not cover damage to the car. Paid Basic and Full still leave an excess; paid Plus removes it.

Standard exclusions. Standard cover excludes damage to wheels, underside, windscreen and cabin. Check what an upgrade adds; its name does not mean everything is covered.

Neglect or deliberate vandalism voids your cover. Northern Cyprus is off-limits, as are the banned areas such as Kavo Gkreko and its access roads. A deposit is not the same as the excess on a hire car.

Documents for the resort handover

Bring your original national licence, in Latin script and valid until you return the car. Scans and electronic licences are not accepted.

International permit

An IDP is strongly recommended with a domestic-only licence. You still need your national licence too.

Driver eligibility

Each car sets its own minimum age and years licensed. Check them before you book.

You can use a UK photocard licence in Cyprus; an old paper-only UK licence may need updating, or an IDP.

Fuel and inspection when the hire ends

Use the pickup record to check fuel and condition before the return.

Return fuel

  • Return the car with the fuel level recorded at handover. Missing fuel is charged at the company’s rate; extra fuel is not refunded.

Return condition

  • You pay for washing if the car is too dirty to inspect.

Fines, fuel and parking are yours to pay. To extend, get the company’s approval before your hire ends.

The rental cannot enter Northern Cyprus

You cannot drive this car into Northern Cyprus, however short the trip looks.

From Protaras, every drive must stay south of the Green Line. Insurance on a Cyprus rental only covers the area the Republic of Cyprus controls.

Notice needed for cancellation

To change the car or dates, cancel and book again.

Cancellation notice

Give a week’s notice for ordinary cars, thirty days for a convertible or luxury car, or twenty-four hours with short-notice cancellation. Late cancellation or a missed pickup loses the advance.

Refund request

Send support your voucher and ask to cancel. Refunds of the advance take up to fourteen days, less six per cent for processing.

Protaras car delivery questions

Are delivery charges outside the example total?

No. Each price already includes delivery and collection. The charges differ by car, so compare full prices and do not add them again.

Do no-deposit cars start with Basic cover?

Not always. Some start with Minimum (TPL), with paid Basic, Full and Plus options. Your share of accident damage changes with each level, while the deposit stays at zero.

Does Full cover always remove the deposit?

No. On some cars it lowers the deposit and excess but does not remove them. Check the level you choose.

Can I drive this rental to Kavo Gkreko?

No. The park and the roads leading to it are banned. Staying in Protaras, a bigger car or extra cover does not change that.

Do I need airport collection for a car immediately after landing?

Yes, choose the airport as your pickup place. Resort delivery starts at your Protaras address, so you need your own way to get there.
