Compare models and airport rental amounts

These six cars are picked up and returned at Trapani-Birgi Airport, with no delivery charge. Compare deposit and total, then search your flight times.

Manual and automatic cars for the west

One of these examples is automatic and five are manual. Two seat five; the rest seat four.

You may get a similar car. Check equipment and luggage room before you book. “Not quoted” means no price was found for that class.

Where is the Trapani car collected?

Pickup is at Trapani-Birgi Airport. Your voucher gives the meeting details; the Trapani name does not mean a town desk, port or delivery.

Airport pickup

All these cars are picked up at Trapani-Birgi Airport. Your voucher gives the exact meeting point.

Port or delivery pickup

A port or delivery place in the list does not mean a car is there. Check for a matching quote.

Late or night arrival

Enter times that match your flight. A daytime price does not cover a night pickup or a diversion.

Give a phone number with country code that works from the day before pickup until return. Check condition, fuel and extras before you drive off.

The same car showing at several airports does not mean you can pick it up at any of them. Choose car rental at Trapani Airport or Palermo Airport to match your booking.

Can the deposit be placed on debit?

Some Trapani cars take the deposit on a debit card that meets the rental rules. How you pay the rest of the rent is set separately.

The deposit goes on the main driver’s own embossed card on an accepted network, shown in person. Paying the rent in cash does not mean a cash deposit.

You pay 15 to 20% online to book. Your car sets how you pay the rest; check how the deposit changes if you add cover.

How far are Erice and Marsala from the airport?

Every Trapani car is handed over at the airport, so these drives start there. Times are on clear roads, without traffic, stops or parking.

Erice ends in the hilltop town, up a mountain road, and Segesta at the archaeological park’s shuttle stop by the motorway, not the temple. San Vito Lo Capo is on the far north-west tip.

Palermo Airport is 91.5 km away, about 1 h 45 min. Some cars picked up at Palermo Airport can be returned here at Birgi.

Plan legal access and the final parking place

Keep to paved public roads and obey access rules. Renting a car does not let you enter controlled old streets or give you hotel parking.

  • Ask your accommodation about the legal route in and where to leave the car. A room booking does not give road access or parking; read the local signs.
  • In Palermo, check your car qualifies and arrange a ZTL pass for its plate before entering. A route into the centre is not permission.
  • Parking and tolls are extra costs under the rental terms. Check how to pay at each car park or toll; do not assume a route is free.
  • Obey closures and road notices. Winter equipment rules depend on each road’s orders and signs, so agree any kit with the company for your route.

Access fines sent to the car’s plate can reach you after your holiday. Ask the company how it handles them and whether it charges a fee.

Road habits and safety requirements in Sicily

Drive on the right. Set your sat nav before moving, allow for town traffic and follow posted limits; journey times are not guaranteed.

Read signs and road type

Usual limits: motorways 130 km/h, main rural roads 110, other rural roads 90, towns 50; signs can differ. In rain, the first two drop to 110 and 90.

Check lights and safety kit

Outside towns, use dipped headlights unless the car has approved daytime running lights. At pickup, ask about the light controls and find the vest and warning triangle.

Restrain every young passenger

Seat belts for all, and approved seats for children under 1.5 metres. Italian-registered cars need an anti-abandonment alarm for under-fours; check the child kit at pickup.

Avoid distracting device use

Hands-free must work without touching the device. The alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, or zero under 21 and in the first three years of driving. Set your sat nav first.

Emergency numbers are 112, fire 115 and ambulance 118. After an insured incident, also tell the company.

A Palermo start with a Birgi finish

Some cars can be picked up at Palermo Airport and returned at Trapani-Birgi. The reverse trip needs its own quote; it is not always offered.

Confirm another return request

Starting at Trapani-Birgi? Search your exact return combination first.

Your voucher shows where to return the car at Birgi. Leave time for the inspection before you travel on.

Compare a year of Trapani hire prices

Each bar is a typical daily price for a seven-day hire starting in that month. Search your own dates to confirm a price.

Each Trapani-Birgi price is for a one-week hire. A month shows N/A when no car had been listed for it.

The first day is 24 hours, and each extra part of a day adds another day. Your return place, times and extras set the full price.

Match passengers, luggage and the driver list

Think about bags and child seats as well as passengers. Choose extras before pickup and add anyone else who will drive.

Check the smaller models

Most of these small cars seat four and one seats five. Check the seats against everyone travelling.

Book suitable child equipment

Choose the right child seat and check it is available before you arrive. Check it at pickup, with any alarm your child needs.

Search for additional space

Need more room? Search for a larger car for your dates and check passenger and luggage space; a class photo does not mean availability.

Approve shared driving first

Add an extra driver through the booking and check their age and experience. Having a licence or sharing the cost does not let them drive.

Read the protection attached to the car

Compare the deposit, accident excess and exclusions on your car. Cover levels, deposit cuts and covered parts can differ between Trapani cars.

Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Damage to your hire car (not included)
Basic coverage
  • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
Full Coverage
  • Limited driver liability (Super CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
Full Coverage Plus
  • Full damage cover (included)
  • No driver liability for accident damage (included)

Your car’s options: Choose cover from your car’s own menu. An upgrade on another Sicily car may work differently.

Not covered: Standard cover excludes the interior, wheels, underside and windscreen. An upgrade must say what extra it covers.

After an incident: Tell the company straight away and get a police report, unless it agrees otherwise. Skipping these steps cancels your cover.

How you use the car: Neglect or deliberate damage cancels the insurance. More cover does not lift a road ban or let you pass a closure.

After any upgrade, check your car’s deposit, excess and exclusions.

What must the driver bring to Trapani-Birgi Airport (TPS)?

Bring both originals: your national licence and the International Driving Permit the contract requires, valid until return. Copies and digital versions are not accepted.

Bring the accompanying permit

Bring your national licence and the IDP to Birgi. The contract requires both, so clear up any doubts before you travel.

Meet the particular car’s limits

Check every driver’s age and experience against this car’s rules before paying. Similar cars can differ, and the company can refuse the handover.

Keep your booking confirmation and deposit card with your licences. Fix any missing document with the company before you travel.

Finish the hire at the agreed appointment

Agree the return time and place with the company and allow for the inspection. You cannot just leave the car near the airport.

Match collection fuel

  • Refill so the fuel matches the pickup level. The company sets the rate for any shortfall, and extra fuel is not refunded.

Allow a condition check

  • If the car is too dirty to inspect, you pay for washing. Let the company finish the check before you leave.

Ask for extra time before the agreed end. You pay parking, tolls, fuel and fines; only small pets in carriers are allowed.

Confirm crossings before booking onward travel

Tell the company before any trip outside Italy so it can prepare the papers. The terms neither allow nor ban taking the car on a ferry.

Agree the exact crossing and insurance with the company. A ferry that takes cars, or a mainland return in the search, is not permission to take this car aboard.

How do cancellations and date changes work?

Check your car’s cancellation deadline before changing plans. The 24-hour deadline only applies with the cancellation option, and processing fees still apply.

Use the correct notice period

Standard cars need 7 days’ notice, luxury cars and convertibles 30, or 24 hours with the cancellation option. Cancel late or miss pickup without agreement and you lose the advance.

Include the reservation voucher

Email support with your voucher to cancel. Eligible refunds arrive within 14 days of your request, minus a 6% processing charge on the advance.

To change dates or car, cancel and book again. Extra time during a rental must be agreed with the company first.

Questions about booking in Trapani

Do the route times start at the airport?

Yes. Every time starts at Trapani-Birgi Airport, where the cars are handed over, and leaves out traffic, stops and parking.

Is a Trapani port pickup included?

No. These cars are at Trapani-Birgi Airport. A port in the list needs a matching car offer before you can pick up there.

Does a Palermo-to-Trapani offer prove the reverse route?

No. For a Trapani-Birgi start and Palermo finish, search that direction. The opposite route being offered does not mean this one is.

Can cash replace the debit security card?

Do not assume so. Paying rent in cash does not mean a cash deposit; bring the physical card in the main driver’s name.

Does the Segesta route end at the temple?

No. It ends at the archaeological park’s shuttle stop by the motorway. The time does not include the shuttle, waiting or reaching the temple.
