Start with the Porto Airport (OPO) pickup price, then check the gearbox and deposit. Some cars need a credit card; others also take debit.

Compare Porto choicesThese are the lowest day rates in each class for one week at the airport. The cheapest cars ask for a credit card and hold at least €1,600; a typical Porto offer costs around €70 a day.
Porto has manuals, automatics and cars with up to nine seats. You may be given a similar model instead, so check the luggage space with all the seats you need.
These cars are picked up at Porto Airport. Your voucher gives the meeting point and the company’s phone number.
Save the meeting point and phone number from your voucher, and call the company if you cannot find it.
Enter your real times. Some cars add night charges at pickup and return, some only on return, some none.
Note fuel and damage with the staff, check your extras, ask how the return works and save their number.
Some Porto no-deposit cars still need a credit card, while a car that takes debit may hold a deposit. Check both conditions.
The card must belong to the main driver and be a physical card with embossed details. Debit must be allowed in your booking, and a card on your phone does not count.
Pay an advance online, usually 15 or 20% of the rent, and the rest at pickup. Some companies take 21 to 30 days to release the deposit.
All six drives start at Porto Airport, on clear roads. Add time for sightseeing, parking and picking up the car.

The Porto drive ends at Avenida dos Aliados and uses the A28 for much of the way. Coimbra is 131.5 km from the airport and Pinhão in the Douro 132.4 km; allow about 1 h 45 min for each before traffic or stops.
Parts of the A4, A28, A41 and A42 are electronic tolls. A gantry records your trip, with no booth where you stop to pay.
Unpaid tolls can reach the company after you return the car and be taken from your deposit. Parking and fines are yours to pay too. Check parking at your accommodation before you arrive.
Drive on the right and follow the speed limit signed for each road. Plan your route before you leave the company.
There are speed cameras on the A28 and A20 near Porto, including average-speed checks. Signs warn you in advance; keep to the limit for the whole stretch.
You may drive on paved public roads only. An unpaved track to a country spot is not allowed, even if your map suggests it.
Some Porto cars have a daily kilometre limit. Count Douro trips, local driving and any return at another airport when checking it.
Your booking phone must work from the day before pickup until return. Include the country code and keep the company’s number in case of delays or an incident.
Some cars can be returned at Lisbon Airport (LIS). Choose it before booking; the total price can include the one-way cost without a separate fee line.
Choose Lisbon Airport; hotels, stations and offices in town need confirming first.
Compare the total price for your actual pickup and return places.
Get the Lisbon return details, and allow time to refuel, for the inspection and to reach the terminal.
Each bar is the lowest daily price for a week’s hire from the 15th, with the car taken and returned at Porto Airport.
N/A: no car was listed for that month.
Short hires are charged at least one day, and each extra part-day counts as another day. Agree any extension with the agent before your return time.
Add child seats from the car’s extras, from baby seats to boosters. Check them before leaving the airport with the children on board.
Add the second driver to the rental contract. Check their licence and experience against the car’s rules before planning to share a long drive.
Match the seat count to your group, then ask about luggage space with every seat in use. The seat count alone does not tell you.
Small pets must stay in their carrier for the whole trip. Make sure the car has room for it alongside passengers and luggage.
The deposit, your damage excess and the cover level are separate things. You can only pick an upgrade if your car offers it.
Not covered as standard: The interior, windscreen, underbody and wheels. Check exactly what any upgrade adds.
After an incident: Tell the company straight away and get a police report, unless the company says you do not need one. Skipping these steps cancels your cover.
What voids cover: Deliberate vandalism or neglect. Buying cover does not change the road rules in your rental.
Changing levels: When you change cover, check the excess as well as the new deposit. A lower deposit does not mean you pay nothing for damage.
Bring your original national licence to pickup, in Latin script and valid until return. Digital licences and copies are not accepted.
If your licence is valid only at home, an IDP is strongly advised. One does not replace the other; bring your original licence and the permit.
Check your Porto car’s age limit and licence history needed. Cars with the same model name can have different rules, and you can be refused.
Tell the agent before taking the car abroad so they can prepare the paperwork. Get confirmation that your booking allows Spain; the cross-border option alone is not enough.
Vigo is 148 km from Porto Airport, about 1 h 45 min plus any border wait. That does not mean you can return the car in Spain.
You cannot take the car on a ferry between the mainland and the Portuguese islands, either way. An island stay needs a separate booking. On Madeira, that booking can be one of the zero-deposit Madeira cars.
Cancel 7 days ahead for standard cars, or 30 days for convertibles and luxury cars. The cancellation option, where offered, cuts this to 24 hours.
Email support to cancel, with your voucher attached. A refundable advance comes back within 14 days, minus a 6% payment processing deduction.
You lose the advance if you cancel too late or miss pickup without telling anyone first. To change a booking, cancel it and book again under the same notice rules.
Yes. Some Porto no-deposit cars still need a credit card, so read the card rule even when no deposit is held.
Your voucher names the meeting point. Companies meet in different places, so keep the phone number on the voucher to hand.
No, you pay the tolls. The company can also charge for its toll service, so check its terms at pickup. For car rental in Portugal, the company must fit the car with a toll device.
The one-way return on offer is Lisbon Airport. For a hotel address, get a quote for it first. Lisbon Airport is also the pickup point for car rental in Lisbon, and some of those cars can be returned at Porto Airport.
No. A car marked “Or similar” may be swapped for a similar model. Confirm any feature you really need.
