Car hire in Qawra

Book a car brought to your door around Qawra, Buġibba and St Paul’s Bay: delivery is free, no credit card is required, and insurance options appear before checkout.

Qawra car rental deals with delivery

These cars come with free delivery to your address. Compare seats, gearbox and deposit, then enter your dates and hotel for a full quote.

Pick the size and transmission you need

Qawra, Buġibba and St Paul’s Bay get the same delivery choice. Give the company your exact hotel or flat address.

Compact cars carry four or five people, and a seven-seater is offered too. Check boot space for your bags.

A similar model may be supplied, so check any feature you really need before paying.

Can a car come to your Qawra hotel?

Delivery works for hotels and flats in Qawra, Buġibba and St Paul’s Bay. Fix the address and meeting time with the company.

Delivered to you

Give the full address and entrance details. Qawra, Buġibba and St Paul’s Bay are separate places, so agree the exact spot.

Your phone contact

Save the company’s phone number from the confirmation and warn them early if your arrival time changes.

Airport pickup

Want the car as you land? Search an airport start instead; the voucher explains how that handover works.

Your booking phone needs its country code and must stay reachable from the eve of pickup to the end of the hire.

At handover, check the fuel, condition and extras together, and agree how you return the car. Hotel reception cannot take the keys unless arranged.

How should you prepare the deposit?

Some cars need no credit card, but a deposit still applies. An approved debit card can hold it; cash cannot.

Some cars take the deposit on a credit or debit card. You can pay the rest of the rent in cash.

A debit card must be a physical, embossed card in the main driver’s name. A friend’s card or a phone wallet will not do.

Booking takes 15 to 20% upfront online; the rest is paid when the car arrives. Ask how and when the deposit is released.

How long does it take to reach the north-coast towns?

From the airport, Qawra is 18.3 km and Buġibba 17.5 km, both about 25 minutes on clear roads.

Add time for the handover, traffic, stops and finding your hotel. Some of the same cars are also delivered in Mellieħa and Sliema.

Ċirkewwa, for the Gozo ferry, is 27.9 km and about 40 minutes from the airport; ferry waits and sailing are extra.

Parking, road access and visits elsewhere

Ask your hotel about parking before delivery. A delivered car does not come with a parking space.

  • Agree where you meet and where the car can stay afterwards. Parking is down to your hotel and local rules, so check before you leave the car.
  • On weekdays between 08:00 and 18:00, Valletta’s access zone is charged, and hire cars are not exempt. Ask the company how any charge billed to the car is passed on.
  • Electric and hybrid cars get an exemption from the Valletta zone, as do some entry times. Being exempt does not mean you can park there.
  • In Mdina, park outside the walls; visitor cars are restricted inside, and a hire booking does not change that.

Stick to paved public roads, including small lanes. Fuel, fines and parking are yours to pay.

Driving rules before leaving the coast

Malta drives on the left, but some cars are left-hand drive. Check where the steering wheel is on your car.

Respect the local speed limits

In towns and villages the limit is 50 km/h, and 80 km/h elsewhere. Lower signed limits apply, and traffic may mean going slower.

Keep hand-held phones unused

You must not hold or use a hand-held phone while driving, even stopped in traffic. Keep the window-side ear free of earphones too.

Use belts and child equipment

Everyone wears a seat belt. Child restraint rules cover children older than three too, so check each child’s seat before you set off.

Keep emergency contacts ready

Call 112 for police, ambulance or fire. After an insured incident, also tell the rental company straight away; that is a separate step.

Driving standards and road surfaces can be poor, so take it steady and allow extra time.

Running late? Ask the company to extend the rental before you keep the car past its return time.

Luqa collection with a Buġibba return

Some cars can be delivered in Luqa and returned in Buġibba. A return in Qawra or St Paul’s Bay needs its own confirmation.

Choose the actual town

Buġibba returns are confirmed; ask first about Qawra or St Paul’s Bay.

Confirm the Luqa place

Follow the Luqa delivery details on your voucher, not an assumed airport desk.

Agree the final meeting

Confirm the return address, access and inspection time before the day.

Only the Luqa to Buġibba direction is confirmed, not every one-way trip.

Want to start in town and finish in Luqa? Ask for a quote for that direction, and agree any change of return address rather than leaving the car somewhere.

Qawra daily prices across the year

Each bar is a week of hire from the 15th. N/A means no price that month, not a cheap or free car.

Check your dates, times and chosen car before relying on a price.

You pay for at least 24 hours, and each extra part day costs a full day, so a later delivery time can change the price.

Passenger layout and approved drivers

Cars here seat four, five or seven. Think about bags and child seats, and add any extra driver before they drive.

Check four versus five seats

Smaller cars seat either four or five. Check the seat count on the car you pick.

Plan the seven-seat load

A manual seven-seater is offered. With every seat in use, check your luggage still fits.

Choose the correct restraint

Book child seats before delivery and check them when the car arrives. Older children may need one too, not just babies.

Add drivers through the booking

Add extra drivers to the booking before handing over the keys. Each must meet the car’s age and experience rules.

Add extras and drivers before comparing totals, then check the equipment against your voucher on delivery.

Compare protection with the security amount

The deposit and the accident excess are different things. Check how each cover level changes both on your car.

Minimum coverageIncluded as standard
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Damage to your hire car (not included)
Basic coverage
  • Limited collision cover (CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
  • Glass and tyre damage (not included)
Full Coverage
  • Limited driver liability (Super CDW) (included)
  • Damage to other vehicles (TPL) (included)
Full Coverage Plus
  • Full damage cover (included)
  • No driver liability for accident damage (included)

Lower deposit and excess: On some cars, Full Coverage cuts both the deposit and the excess compared with Minimum or Basic.

Excess only: On other cars, Full Coverage removes the excess but the deposit stays the same.

Not covered: Standard cover excludes damage to the windscreen, underside, interior and wheels. Check what an upgrade adds.

After an incident: Tell the company straight away; a police report is needed too unless they agree otherwise. Skipping this, neglect or vandalism voids the cover.

Each car shows its own rental cover levels. Your travel insurance does not replace the reporting steps.

Which documents are required for delivery?

Bring the original of your national licence, written in Latin script and valid until the car is back. Copies and digital licences are not accepted.

Licence and additional permit

If your licence is valid only at home, an International Driving Permit is strongly recommended. Bring both and show the permit if asked.

The selected driver’s eligibility

Check age and experience rules before paying. At 21, some cars need one year with a licence and others two.

Bring the card needed for the deposit too. Paying the online advance does not prove the card works for the deposit.

Fuel and the return inspection

Agree the return address and leave time to unload before the car is checked. Get the fuel and condition right before the return time.

Use the original fuel level

  • Return the car with the fuel level you got. Missing fuel is charged at the company’s rates; extra fuel is not refunded.

Keep the inspection clear

  • The company must be able to inspect the car. If it is too dirty, you pay for washing.

Tell the company if you change hotel and agree the return address. The Malta rental rules cover the rest.

Taking a car abroad or towards Gozo

The car cannot leave Malta. For Gozo, get the company’s answer first: the rental terms say nothing about the ferry.

Gozo is part of Malta, but that does not give ferry permission or cover. Get the company’s answer in writing before you book.

The Ċirkewwa to Mġarr crossing takes about 25 minutes, on top of waiting time.

Leaving the car on Malta? Plan parking and onward travel yourself; delivery does not reach Gozo.

Changing the reservation before the trip

Check the cancellation deadline before changing car or dates. The shorter 24-hour deadline only applies if your booking includes that option.

Meet the required notice

Cancel 7 days ahead, or 30 days for luxury and convertible cars; 24 hours with the cancellation option. Late cancelling or a missed pickup loses the advance.

Supply the voucher to support

Email support with your voucher attached. Refunds arrive within 14 days of the request, minus 6% of the advance for payment processing.

New dates or a different car mean a fresh booking after cancelling. To extend once you have the car, ask the company first.

Qawra, Buġibba and St Paul’s Bay questions

Do the three towns offer the same delivery models?

Yes, the same cars show for all three. Still agree your exact address and meeting point, as they are separate places.

Does a Buġibba one-way result prove a Qawra return?

No. Luqa to Buġibba is confirmed. Request a Qawra or St Paul’s Bay return by name and check that quote.

Can a small pet travel in the hired car?

Yes, small pets can travel inside a carrier on every drive. Have the carrier with you at handover.

Can I pay the deposit in cash?

No. Some cars only accept a card, credit or debit, for the deposit; cash covers the rest of the rent.

Can the rental begin later than the airport arrival?

Yes. Pick the date you want the car delivered and confirm the time with the company.
