Zadar Airport sits off the A1 at the Zadar 2 exit, about 15 minutes by road from the city. These rentals start at the airport.
Your voucher shows where to meet at Zadar Airport. Save it, and call the company if your arrival changes.
Some Zadar Airport cars have a pickup charge, some do not. Any charge is already in the price.
From the day before pickup until the car is back, the company may call your booking phone, so add the country code.
Airport pickup does not include delivery to your hotel. Enter your real pickup time so the price shows any charge for that hour, and follow the meeting details on your voucher.
Some Zadar Airport cars need no credit card, and some need no deposit. Check both on the car you choose.
A card can still be needed. A car with no credit-card requirement may still need a deposit on an accepted card. These airport cars do not take a cash deposit.
Bring your own card. Only the main driver’s own physical card, with raised details, will do. That goes for credit cards, and for debit cards where the car takes them.
Booking costs 15 to 20% now, and the company takes the rest at pickup by the methods shown for your car. Paying online says nothing about which card it takes for the deposit.
A deposit can stay with some companies for 30 to 45 days after the car is back. They may take unpaid tolls or fines from it, plus an admin fee on a fine, so look at the voucher for when it is released.
No deposit does not mean no damage liability, so check the cover on a no-deposit car just as carefully.
Drive times from the airport to each place. Allow extra time for traffic and stops.

Coming the other way, Split Airport to Zadar is 128.8 km, about one hour forty-five minutes in light traffic. That helps if you pick up in Split and finish in Zadar.
The coast road around Zadar gets busy in summer, and queues form on the A1 between Rovanjska (once called Maslenica) and the Sveti Rok tunnel. Leave extra time before your airport return.
Unlimited kilometres do not cover ferry or cross-border trips. You still need permission for those, so plan island days separately from coastal drives.
Istria is a long way north, so for a stay there, car rental in Pula saves the drive.
Zadar has separate parking zones. Buy your ticket for the zone shown at your space; it does not cover the rest of the city.
Zone 0 has a one-hour limit, except for residents with a permit. Zone 1 has a three-hour limit from 15 June to 30 September. Paying for extra time does not lift the limit.
Use the registration of the car you actually picked up, which may differ from the car pictured when you booked. Keep your payment confirmation.
Staying longer? Check the parking operator’s rules and ask your accommodation where to park. Parking charges and fines are yours to pay.
Arrange ferry travel with customer support before you finish booking. Buying a ferry ticket does not give your car permission to sail.
Jadrolinija’s passenger ships and fast boats do not take cars. Check you have the car ferry for your island.
Some Zadar lines let you reserve a car space on a set sailing. Otherwise cars board in arrival order, if there is room. Allow time to reach the port.
Car ferry line 431 runs from Zadar Gaženica to Preko on Ugljan, calling at Ošljak on some sailings. Check the port when you read the timetable.
Buying a ticket before you know the plate? Type RENTAL in the registration box. After pickup, keep the car’s registration certificate to hand.
A reserved ticket holds your car’s place on that sailing; arrive at least 45 minutes before. Without a reservation, the ticket is valid that day if there is room, so arrive one to two hours ahead, or earlier on some busy summer sailings.
Your ferry ticket and the rental company’s permission are separate. You need both for an island trip.
Zadar Airport rentals can end in Split. Choose the return place when you search; an airport return and an address return differ.

Car hire in Split →
Put Split as your return place; the total includes the drop-off charge.
You can also go the other way: pick up at Split Airport and return at Zadar Airport. That direction has its own cars, prices and conditions. For Split car hire ending here, the drop-off charge is already inside the price.
Lowest day rates for a week’s hire from the 15th of each month, November 2026 to October 2027. N/A means there is no price for that month yet.
Each week-long hire starts on the 15th. June to October show no price; check your own dates.
An empty month is not a free month, and cars may still be there. Your own price comes down to the car and your dates.
The shortest charge is a day: a few hours is billed as 24 hours, and a morning pickup with a next-afternoon return is two days. Put in your real return time.
Zadar Airport has manual and automatic cars, seating four to nine people. Check the gearbox and seats on each car.
Choose your gearbox when you compare cars. The same size class can have both, so check the gearbox on the car you book.
Seven, eight and nine-seat cars suit larger groups. Check the seat count fits your group, with room for everyone’s luggage.
Add boosters or child seats when you book, and infant seats where offered. Choose the right seat for each child’s age.
Some Zadar cars let you add a second driver. Check the price and that they are eligible before you book.
Check the cover levels on your Zadar car before you book. The price, and what you would still pay, depend on the car.
What Basic leaves out. Basic limits what you pay after a collision but does not cover glass or tyres. Standard cover also leaves out the interior and underside.
Top cover on some cars. Some Zadar Airport cars offer Full Coverage Plus, which removes your liability for accident damage. Check whether your car has it, and the price.
Deposit and excess. Upgrading may lower the deposit, or not. The excess is your share of damage costs. Neglect or deliberate damage cancels your cover.
After an incident. Phone the company at once and get a police report unless it tells you not to. Skip it and you lose your cover.
Minimum pays for damage to other vehicles, not your rental. Full Coverage (Super CDW) can leave you the same share as Basic, or a smaller one.
Bring your original national licence, in Latin script and valid for your whole rental. Copies and digital licences are not accepted.
A licence valid only at home should travel with an International Driving Permit, which is strongly recommended. The permit adds to your licence; it never replaces it.
Check your car’s age and experience rules before booking. Similar cars can differ, and the company can refuse a driver who does not qualify.
Have your voucher and the right payment card with you as well; both are needed for renting a car in Croatia.
Drive on paved public roads only. Parking, fuel, tolls and fines are yours to pay.
Need the car longer? Ask the company before your rental ends. On motorways, keep your entry ticket and pay Croatia’s tolls at the exit.
Some Zadar cars have a non-EU neighbours option, including Bosnia and Herzegovina. Arrange permission with customer support before you go.
Conditions depend on the country, the car, the company and how long you are away. The coast road through Neum leaves Croatia, so a drive towards Dubrovnik can cross a border. You must still return a Croatian rental where agreed.
Some Zadar cars come with a cancellation option that lets you cancel up to 24 hours before pickup. Check that your car has it.
Otherwise give seven days’ notice, thirty for luxury cars and convertibles. Late cancelling or changing, or not turning up without a word to the company, costs the advance.
Cancel by sending your voucher to customer support. Within fourteen days the advance, less 6% for payment processing, goes back to the account you used unless agreed otherwise.
To change dates on a Croatia booking, cancel and book again; your car may then go to someone else.
Unlimited kilometres are available at Zadar Airport. Check the mileage line on your car before a long trip; you still need to return it on time.
Yes, small pets are allowed if they stay in a travel carrier for the whole trip. Larger pets are not allowed.
If your car breaks down or cannot be supplied for reasons beyond anyone’s control, you get one of the same or a higher class, at the same price and conditions.
Yes. In the first 24 hours after confirmation and the advance, either you or the company may cancel before the rental starts. The refund still loses the payment-service fee.
From 15 November to 15 April, the A1 from Maslenica towards Zagreb needs winter equipment in any weather, and snow or ice brings the same rule on other roads. Ask the company what your car comes with.
Pick up at the airport, choose your return, then compare payment rules and cover. Add any extras and book the car that suits your trip.
